Title: ERROR CODE 62-1 Post by: 5 ACES on May 03, 2009, 08:55:17 PM I'm trying to install a Triple Cherry Kit and when I insert the Reel Chip, I keep getting a 62-1 error code that I can't reset. Nothing I do works!! Please Help!! Shawn
I think the reel eprom is bad. No matter what I do, 62-1 keeps showing up. I installed my other reel eprom and it works fine. Title: Re: ERROR CODE 62-1 Post by: rickhunter on May 04, 2009, 12:06:58 AM Yeah, 62-1 is a bad reel chip. You need to get it replaced.

The chip is very durable but can get corrupted quite number of different ways. When removing or inserting the MPU from/into the motherboard, you must make sure the power supply is turned off. Also, when you're not using the chips for some time, they must be stored in electrostatic-free boxes. The metal legs of the chip must never touch anything that may contain an electrical charge at all. I recommend the static-free chip boxes made by 3M. They are found at places such as Mouser or Newark online stores. The picture is incorrect in this link I posted below...but the sizes of the little boxes are correct. I think you can get 25 cases for .42 cents apiece.>>> http://www.mouser.com/search/refine.aspx?N=4294953630&Keyword=5701SP (http://www.mouser.com/search/refine.aspx?N=4294953630&Keyword=5701SP) Title: Re: ERROR CODE 62-1 Post by: 5 ACES on May 04, 2009, 07:12:36 PM The "62-1" is probably our most dreaded code.... :8- The chip is very durable but can get corrupted quite number of different ways. Can I put back in the SP731 chip I had in it before? Just wondering because both chips came from the same source and there both old. Title: Re: ERROR CODE 62-1 Post by: rickhunter on May 04, 2009, 08:48:31 PM A bad chip will not kill another chip. You can go back and forth and it won't change the condition of either chip (unless you plug them in backwards).

I think I will buy a few for these eproms. You don't realize it, but after a few kits, these eproms start to pile up! Thanks again to you both for the tips! Now, I just need to get my set and clear eproms and a new SS eprom and upgrade my 731 to a 1271. Yes, and after several kits and the slot multiplier effect (they are hermaphrodites, one day you have one in your gameroom, then you wake up and there are more than what you originally thought you had). :72- :72- :72- :72- Then you end up with something like this: Title: Re: ERROR CODE 62-1 Post by: StatFreak on May 05, 2009, 01:20:13 AM 436 chips, although I probably mis-counted. You know, there's still room for a few more in some of those tubes Rick. You're slacking off! :125- :127- :97- :97- :97- :97-
Title: Re: ERROR CODE 62-1 Post by: rickhunter on May 05, 2009, 01:34:55 AM I know, when my slots decide to start their mitosis, then I'll have more. I just hope they mutate into an S2000 and WMS Dotmation. :5- :5- :5- :5-
