Title: My power-less reel line illuminator
Post by: Magicslots on May 07, 2009, 01:51:40 AM
While playing the machine the other night, I noticed that the "Payline" symbol on the reel glass was kind of dull and shadowed.
I was thinking of how 3 and 5 line games have their own lights to indicate which line is being played, so i started tinkering with the idea
of how to illuminate mine easily.
I had found an old birthday card with one of those cheap thin mylar mirrors in it, (open the card and see yourself staring back at you)
and a quickie idea struck me. why not use this somehow.  So by cutting it to the same size as the word on the reel glass, i stuck it to a thin
piece of clear plastic cut from a blister pack I had bought a tool in. a couple of 45 degree triangles on the ends with tabs for some tape and
voila!
It seem to work quite well given that it took me about 15 minutes to make.  Tell me what you think...an idea worth further development?
Or have I just junked up the machine... :52-

Somewhere, around this junkpile I call a house I have an acrylic triangular "crystal" that is close to this same size..
Its one of those you can lay on a flat page and it reflects and magnifies text. I am thinking that this might work even better given
the way it gather light from two sides..now to find it  :5-  Some double sided tape should make for a quick test...

Heres the same gimmick on a black reel glass, the effect is even more pronounced especially in a darker room..

Mucho Thanko there Bunker... :71-  While its hard to tell from the pic, I also used the leftover mylar mirror pcs, to cover three sides of the Denom
light box.  It brightened it up a lot, but those #86 bulbs just dont put off much light.  So i hunting a nice bright led that will fit the tiny socket.
If I find one, all those #86 bulbs are history! :47-

Hey Magic,
I came across this browsing around the net.
I was looking for some nice acrylic plastics for a game I'm making.
Should be pretty easy to cut with a good electric band saw?
Crazy glue a piece to the back of the reel glass?
I'm going to see if I can find some at a hobby shop...>>>
