Title: Translation IGT Post by: MALA on May 10, 2009, 02:22:42 PM Do you think it would be possible to translate the English language mame IGT PE+ Rom into French for example?
I have seen in differents casino here in France some video poker "IGT" in french. Title: Re: Translation IGT Post by: jay on May 10, 2009, 03:34:46 PM Le IGT
Poker de Video Is there that much to translate ? Title: Re: Translation IGT Post by: MALA on May 10, 2009, 05:56:08 PM LOL :30-
Not just the title lol I have tried to see if I can change something in the rom with a HEXEDIT but I can see no sentence even in English. Title: Re: Translation IGT Post by: StatFreak on May 10, 2009, 06:53:13 PM I would guess that the instruction/help screen would be text worth translating, if there is one (I can't remember), and maybe the messages used in setup, accounting, and tilts. :103-

It's not as simple as hexediting to the language of choice. If you just edit the text on the proms, the game will fail the security validation at startup and you'll get an error when the game tries to initialize. So if you want the French ones, you'll have to get the french version of the eprom. Title: Re: Translation IGT Post by: StatFreak on May 11, 2009, 11:40:52 PM I've seen international Bally GameMaker chips with multiple language texts embedded. I wonder if IGT made multi-language versions of their system chips as well?
Title: Re: Translation IGT Post by: rickhunter on May 12, 2009, 12:40:42 AM On the legacy WMS video (55x/36x) there were international language sets. I have some sets in Spanish that I got from some of my contacts in South America. So I would think it's likely IGT made some in French for such jurisdictions.
Title: Re: Translation IGT Post by: Stolistic on May 12, 2009, 11:21:11 AM I've seen a few pieces of spanish text in some of the PE+ games while poking around. I'll try to find an example later.
As for text changes. Rickhunter is correct. Not only would the game fail to pass the checksum during boot-up, but the text would be different length in some cases, so it would not just be a matter of replacing the text, but also all the pointers that specifiy the text length etc. It may require moving blocks of text into unused areas of the chip too. |
