Title: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 01, 2009, 09:23:00 PM I have two questions: I'm going to change the name in the mastercom -
1. Does anyone know what what type chip that's in it? Whenever I try the ID function on my programmer it doesn't work. :60- 2. Has anyone played with the SlotLine jack to communicate with this thing? I did some searching but came up blank. Thanks Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: brichter on June 02, 2009, 12:50:53 AM AMD Am29F040B

Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 11:09:13 AM I did - I just found out what chip it is AMD Am29F040B or 29F010.
So I'll change the name on the display tonight. I would like to communicate with the box - maybe set up a database and have valid cards. Track points etc. Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: brichter on June 02, 2009, 02:09:56 PM AMD Am29F040B Some of these are also using a 29F010 too. Hmm, here comes the brain picking! :88- :97- Seems kind of odd that they would use either a 1Mbit or 4Mbit in the same application, but the manual does state that it supports "up to" 512k memory. Is there less functionality with the units that use the 1Mbit eprom? Is there a reason to want to upgrade the eprom if it's 1Mbit for home use? Yes, I'm nerding out again! :5- Stat, we need a nerd smiley, please do the needful: Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: brichter on June 02, 2009, 02:10:44 PM I did - I just found out what chip it is AMD Am29F040B or 29F010. Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 02:14:44 PM I don't know yet - I have to scrape off the bally sticker to reveal the window and numbers.
Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: a69mopar on June 02, 2009, 02:30:15 PM If it has a window it wont work, well unless someone jumped pins. It should be a flash chip that erases in your programmer. These work wit 1meg, 2meg or 4 meg chips, the 4 meg file can be used on a 1 meg chip and it will work.
Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 02:57:30 PM ohhhhh I didn't know that - Thanks It saves me scraping the label off it.
Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 06:03:31 PM Just burned chip and it worked great! It's the Am29F010 chip. I sure would love to talk to this thing though.
Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 06:25:37 PM I lied... I used AM29F010 because it was printed on the circuit board but in fact the chip is AM29F040. I ruined the bin and now it's useless :37-
The thing just says booting... because I didn't get the complete image of the chip. :30- Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: a69mopar on June 02, 2009, 09:57:34 PM try again with your programmer set for the correct chip. What casino was it from?
W Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 10:02:52 PM I tried.. I erased the chip and burned the image that I made back on with no luck. The casino was Pearl River Resort. When go down past address 001f550 the chip is blank.
*** - The original image that was on the chip *** - I think because I had the wrong chip size I only copied 25% of the chip. Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: a69mopar on June 02, 2009, 10:10:28 PM I may be able to help you out, I have some pearl river chips, I'll look for them. I doubt that's why it wont work though. I bet you went outside of the editable area.
Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 10:12:38 PM But even the unmodified version doesn't work.
Would it matter from one casino to another? Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: a69mopar on June 02, 2009, 10:24:28 PM I'm sure you have the notch to the edge of the board. Isn't your chip an amd am29f040B??
Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: a69mopar on June 02, 2009, 10:25:31 PM The Pearl river is an easy one to mod. I have seen some that are encrypted.
Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: a69mopar on June 02, 2009, 10:46:00 PM didn't you have more than 1, just try the chip from your other mastercom.
Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 02, 2009, 10:52:12 PM That did it! -
So the moral of the story is don't backup 25% of your chip. It won't work! The name change worked fine to. Amazing what those extra bits will do! Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 03, 2009, 11:25:51 AM Has anyone read the article "Unlocking the Mysteries of the Mastercom 250" from Slot Tech Magazine?
Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: brichter on June 03, 2009, 02:02:14 PM Got a link???
Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: jdkmunch on June 03, 2009, 02:28:12 PM I don't because only subscribers can get to it. The issue that has info on the 250 is June 2006

Title: Re: Mastercom 250 Post by: stayouttadabunker on September 14, 2010, 05:46:48 PM I'm playing with a couple of Bally Mastercom 250's right now.
I wanted to get into the Test mode...would anyone have a old GMU or "SKEY" card? With this card I would be able to run tests for the "events" such as "Door Open", "Drop", "Cash Box" so on and so on... This seems to have a really neat 2x20 LCD display and I want to see if I can get it to display other messages such as "Winner!", "Jackpot!", etc etc...by using relay triggers and stuff...
