Title: Bally error 52
Post by: clown2948 on June 07, 2009, 09:40:42 PM
I have been trying to get the 52 error off this machine with no luck. I have tried a new bill val. and cash can and transporter that works in other machines. I do not know what to do next. I have made sure all the wires were plugged in and the switch at the back of the cash box was working but no luck. Can anybody tell me what Aim doing wrong. The bill val makes it normal sound but does not turn green or red. I also get a 50 when I turn on the machine.Than it goes to 52 error. I also did a safe ram clear and all was right but than the 52.

The error 52 is an open cash can door.   Error 50 is an open slot door.   If you have 52 you have to check the sensor for the cash door.  I have had that problem because I don't have a lock on mine and if it isn't absolutely shut tight I get the error 52.

As you look at the can on the right side you will see the door's hinge swigs on the outside of the assembly.  The switch is down on that side.  If the room is quiet you will hear it click when you open and close the door.

I'm glad you got it going!  What's the limit switch?

That is what you call it. It is a micro switch with an arm and a small roller on it just like whats on the pull Handel  on the side of the machine. It has two micro switches that work to spin the reels. Next time I open one up I will send picture.

If you could that would be great.  I know where the switch is but haven't figured out how to get to it yet.  I would like to disable that switch and the switch that is for the cash can.  This way it is easier for me to get at the cash.

JDKMunch,
When you say "disable"...do you mean like dis-connecting the wires to the switch and
then tying them together to bypass the switch?
That way you don't need the cash box?

That's what I thought...!

They are... I found a set of ratchets in my tool box that fit.   It made the job much easier.    So the question is - did clown have to remove the assembly to get at that switch?

Oh...He must of taken the whole thing out...
there's not a whole lot of room  in there to get at those wires for the switch...
unless you have real tiny, little hands.... :96-

Hi you dont have to take the whole unit out. There are two nuts on the bottom of cash box holder. You have to remove them and there is a plate that will come off than under the box there are two screws that hold the limit switch to the side of the machine.Take them out and you will see the micro switch. It has three wires on it.It is easy to fix.

Hiya clown2948,
To "disable" the switch, do you tie the 3 wires together?

I goofed with this last night and took pictures, but forgot to bring my camera to work with me.  Remind me if you want to see them...  Anyway, there is a four-pin connector behind the cash box that has pin one wired with two black wires, pin two with yellow and pin (3 or 4) with yellow, and the last pin blank.  The yellow wires have different color stripes, don't remember.  One of the yellows is wired to the "normally open" lead on the limit switch, and the other is wired to the "normally closed" lead.

Whatchya wanna do is jump/twist the pin one (black) and pin two (one of the yellows) together.  Leave the third (other yellow) out of it and this will disable the sensor.  If you goof and connect any/all of them you won't blow anything up, but it won't override either.  To state the obvious, make sure you are tying the wires that lead back up towards the BV/Backplane and not the ones that lead down into the cash box assembly!  (duh!)

This stuff was waaay back there and a beyotch to get at, and my 6000's wiring systems must have been *shredded* somewhere between the casino floor and my workshop.  Took a while to get that all stuff reassembled; I never thought I'd be so happy to have that stupid door flopping open and whackin' me on the head again.

In these pictures the wires look black, yellow and white.  With my head stuffed up the belly of the Bally it looked more like black/yellow/yellow.  Anyway, wrap 1 & 2 together (there are numbers molded on the plastic connector) and you should have an overridden Cash Door sensor.
