Title: What is needed to set up a Mikohn Progressive Meter ?
Post by: enforcer on June 10, 2009, 05:51:32 PM
I am looking for a simple, complete list of what is needed to set up a progressive meter on some of my slots and where the best, simplest "how to guide" on putting all the parts together and programming the meter with the PSP software can be found...I see references to all sorts of parts like meters, controllers, power supplies, dos programs with differing version numbers and am left  :103-  :103-  :103-

Thanks,

There are 3 series of equipment.

Con1 / ChamI
The purpose is to setup a Linked (multiple machine) progressive.
You can have in machine displays or large over head displays.
They display text only.
This is the oldest set of equipment, rather good supply.
The overhead displays are generally 1x 2 .. (1 tall by 2 wide). Albeiet you can add additional panels to make these as long as 16.
I have a 1 x 14. Theoretically they can be a 2 x ... however I have never figured out how to do this.
The CON1 connects to a LED5 (cham1) and the LED5 connects to the Meter (display panel).
Alternatively you can connect to a LED4 (cham4) for the large overhead meters.

Con2 / ChamII
The purpose is to setup a Linked (multiple machine) progressive.
You can have in machine displays or large over head displays.
They overhead displays are called supremes and have the ability to display both text and graphics.
you need another piece of software called MIKOHN downloader to load the graphics into the Supreme.
Sumpremes can be almost any set of dimensions you want to build. Ie 2 x 3
The CON2 is also called a Supercontroller.
The CON2 connects to a ChamII which conects to the meter (display panel).
Alternatively you can connect to a Supreme.
Supremes and supercontrollers come with a large price tag.
Supply is out there but generally not cheap.
If you are looking for a CON2 (non I version I=IGT) then Joey has one in stock and whatever he collects from the sale of it goes to the site.

ChamII+
This is designed to be a standalone (1 machine) progressive.
Note the +, the + units can be setup standalone or in linked mode.
Linked mode is used with the CON2 and basically becomes simply a display driver for the CON2.
You cannot use a CHAMII (non plus) standalone.
This is the least expensive option.

I'm going to attempt to put together a stand alone progressive, I have Cham2+,power supply  and the CHAM 2 METER ( I believe that's all I need for the stand alone Am I right?).  Also have the PSP software now down loaded to my PC. I have the directions to the BALLY 6000 ,does anyone have the directions to the 5500....Thanks for your time.. Or does someone have any pictures of their stand a lone progressive, so I can get an ideal....Thanks
