Title: Model 40x Wms: Backplane chip 24c04 on Wms/IGT - repost
Post by: cfh on September 22, 2008, 08:47:16 AM
reposted from old NLG site...

On the williams dotmation and model 400/401 bankplane
board, there's a serial EEPROM 8 pin chip. This is the same chip
IGT uses on their "motherboard". it contains game type info, so
if you try and swap a new game in to the slot, the game knows.

Anyway i highly suggest picking up these chips are they are
currently available. i don't know how long that will be the case.
When replacing, always use an 8 pin socket.
