Title: What's a nice fun 3C kit for a Bally 5500?
Post by: stayouttadabunker on June 15, 2009, 06:19:14 PM
Well, I did it...I went go pick up a Bally 5500 cabinet and door.... :91-

Now I'm wondering... what's a nice 3 coin glass kit to put in it? :103-

That's a great question.   Before investing in a kit look at the types of games.  I have found that most of the games for the Bally are exactly the same with different symbols.  There are a few exceptions.  Deuces Wild is a nice machine - it pays when the deuce symbol is on or off the line similar to wild cherry.   I think the classic for that type machine is the blazing 7's -   that's fun too.   I found these pics floating around the internet of some other game titles.

Hmmm, I respectfully disagree that the games are mostly the same.  Money Bars is similar to Quick hits where the jackpot is achieved by getting 9 bar symbols on or within 1 position of the line.  8 pays less, 7,6,5,4,3 pay progressively less.  Silver and gold has two wilds with the silver being wild on or within 1, and the gold is a multiplier, Krazy Kops sounds best in an S6000 with pro sound, I call it the farting machine as it makes farting noises when the symbols land on the payline.  3 krazy kops symbols respin to repeat the pay and the sounds then are great. Swing time and roaring twenties are similar but different.  Wild times has a bonus multiplier that you have to press the button to start, this one I like a lot.  Grand slam has many pays and is unique, very nice baseball theme.  There are many more, Hot Lines, Diamond Line, Extra Money, and Blazing Sevens of course, with it's lower jackpot and having a progressive is very popular, especially with pro sound II.  For the S6000, you get into the 4 reelers where the 4th reel is a bonus reel, Bonus Frenzy, Triple Bonus Frenzy, 25 times Bonus Frenzy, Andy Capp, Richie Rich, Winning for Dummies (great for some people I know), Diamond line frenzy, 99 bottles of beer, I could go on and on, but I wont.
I prefer the S6000 over the S5500, but I admit the S5500 is one of the best slots for the home user or someone that doesn't have patience and a set of SafeRam clear chips.  It's really just the sound that I like better.  I have to say though that the S2000 "The Mummy" has some of the best sounds I've heard from a spinning reel slot, makes me want to keep it instead of selling it.

Bally has a great variety of games out there, and with the recent "give away" deals that I saw, anyone that grabbed a bunch will make out well.  In the past the knowledge base on these was limited, and those that knew weren't sharing, nowadays with this site, the knowledge has been spreading and I expect the purchase price to go up for them.  I chuckled recently when reading a slot tech site where some casino techs replied that an S6000 wont print tickets as a stand alone machine, that mystery was cracked on this site.

A little off topic and rambly(is that a word),

Thanks,
Wayne

Thanks for the replies guys! :3-
I think I like some of the colors too...those pics you posted Munch are great!
I agree that the most popular theme/game I've seen with the Bally's were that Blazing 7"s.
I've seen a few "Hot Lines" somewhere too...
Has anyone ever compiled some type of a list of games in this format?

Do you mean a pictorial?  If so I will likely start uploading more pics to my profile, lots of bally pics.

Thanks,
Wayne

Well,
A pictorial is something I've never really seen in this Bally 5500 format... :8-
It would definitely be a first.!!! :91-
In fact, I've never seen a better compilation of any format other than the S+ "Bible" , for that matter. :5-

Most of my S5500 machines have become parts machines and are stored behind everything else, however the S6000 machines use the same kits (almost all), Belly glass, award glass, strips and personality chips will work in either.

Thanks,
Wayne

Can some of the Bally 6000 games/chips/glass will work in a Bally 5500?
or do you mean the other way around?

I found those pictures on this site:

http://www.slotmachineresale.com/inventory2.asp (http://www.slotmachineresale.com/inventory2.asp)

That is where I found the idea of the Overload machine.  Now I don't play it because it's too painful with the broken belly glass.

That Wild Times sounds cool.   I wish kits would come up for sale more often.

I mean either way as in they are interchangeable.  Most of the games were launched on the S5500 platform and were carried over to the S6000 platform.  I am also an S-Plus guy along with other machines, but there are plenty around to help with those, so I usually help out with the bally stuff.

Thanks,
Wayne

One thing I really know is that nobody knows everything. :96-  Thanks though.  I was telling someone in a private post how I smile when someone that was asking questions 6 months ago answers questions on this site using the knowledge they picked up here.   That's why I sometimes point you in the right direction, Jonathan, instead of just giving the quick answer.  I am sometimes busy and it's great how yourself and others jump in when you can.  That's what this site is all about!

Thanks,
Wayne
