Title: GK printer problem
Post by: idylewild1 on June 29, 2009, 09:52:04 PM
I have a GK with a printer installed. However, it does not show up under the nexplex devises installed. Have tried key chip to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Mine doesn't either, but the my printer does work.  Under Netplex Autoconfiguration I have:

Bill Validator - Installed
Spectrum - Not responding

It doesn't show the touchscreen either, which is also a netplex device, but that works as well.

Under diagnostics I have a printer test button where I can print a test voucher.  Do you have that option available?

I have the same things show up under netplex configurations as you do. However, the printer does not work. We do not have the printer show up under diagnostics either.  The GME chips are 395's and the base chip is a 247 and all other chips are 351's. I am using a key22 chip for configuration. Hope someone has some ideas. Thanks.

Just for giggles....try using the Key 17 and see what happens....won't hurt anything to try it.

Key17 did nothing but a purple screen. Tried key40 and it does the same as a key22 chip. Thanks.

Ron,

I talked to someone a little more knowledgable about these than I am...advice as follows, hope this helps.

Back to basics and troubleshooting.

First, swap out the printer with a known working one to eliminate that as a problem.

Second, should do a clear and then a Key...not just Key, to insure all casino SAS information is off the MPU.

Third, you need to try and enable the printer in whatever sub-menu it shows up in, should read something like "Cash Out.
Devices."  It's always disabled after swapping games, doing a clear and Key, and needs to be enabled.

Fourth, double check hopper limits etc.

Please don't take this wrong...just trying to help...is it fed in correctly?
What kinda paper do you have? Thermal?
There are specific instructions printed on them I think for the proper way to put them in the printer box.
Most of these tickets have a black bar imprinted on them that need to go a certain way.
also, I believe there's a "feed" button  on the side too.

I don't know Steve, I don't have a Game King... :8-
I'm sure there are others that might be able to help you... :89-
Hey! Try typing in a search in the archives for GK printer.... :71-
sometimes you can even get more answers when typing it in on a Google search too... :91-
Google stores stuff from forever and you may get some results from the old NLG website on this... :5-

You are likely putting the paper in upside down and backwards.  The white part of the paper should be face down and the back side of the paper facing up.  In this state the black rectangular marking on the back of the paper, facing up, should be towards the bottom right. You do not have to change any settings on the MPU set up.  And you do not have to push "feed" on the printer, it will automatically feed.  Make sure the blue lever on the right side is in the up position.

Post a picture of your printer if it looks different than this one.

See picture below.

Jim is right, even though the tickets say "This side Up" it iis the opposite side that needs to be up. Confusing, Huh?

When you first cleared and Key'd the machine did you "enable" the printer?

Also make sure the SAS STANDARD MODE is enabled.

I have tried everytrhing with these machines and nothing seems to allow the printer to work in stand alone mode. I have cleared and keyed with a key22 and key40. The controller board is a Game KIng Video controller board number 7570390. I have tried a 247 and 526 base chip. I have tried 351 and 517 CG and Pxl chips. I have tried a key17 chip. The sound chips are SN000046. When I do a key chip nowhere does it indicate there is a printer installed. I have tried to set the SAS to standard but there is nowhere to set this option. Any help would be apprciated. Thanks
