Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 03, 2009, 12:03:40 PM For 10MHz boards, Barry the dip switch #3 has to be ON for reel and spin sound...
And the volume is adjusted by the blue, potentiometer knob on top of the board. Hope this helps ya! :89- Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 03, 2009, 12:28:22 PM guys bit 3 is ON - 10mhz board - SP809 - all I get is the reel stop - no coin in ding.
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 03, 2009, 12:55:10 PM Okay, this is a way to test the sound>>>
Open the door...(there cannot be any credits on the machine) Press the little white test button 5 times, You should see a "50" in the "Winner Paid" display window. That's for sound tests. Each time you press the "Spin" button, you'll hear a "ding". Turning the "reset" key gives you a different tone or sound also when you press the "Spin" button. If you're not getting any sounds during the test, then you may need to perform a ram clear . After that, use the SET015 or SET017 chip to reset/re-enable the DVB. But before doing any clearing, are you getting credits to register onto the display when you drop a coin in? Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 03, 2009, 01:02:08 PM Also,
There's is really a much easier way to check for the "ding" sound. Right on the coin-in optics board that's mounted under the coin comparitor. Open the door, press the little button on the coin-in optics card... You should hear a ding for each time you press it! :89- Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 03, 2009, 04:30:26 PM will try to 5 test - coin optic does give me the ding. Just did not know what the SP809 did - I guess I could have changed it to a 731 and sound would have been easy (bit 3).
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 03, 2009, 05:45:32 PM 50 - spin button no efffect - reset key 50, 51.......56 no effect - no sound - will check out the speaker - replace mpu when I get this otherwise excellent Wurlizer back home. What is the diff between SP731 and SP809? I would have thought the BIT 3 would have worked for either one.
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: OhioGaming on July 03, 2009, 06:21:41 PM Barry .. there is a capacitor (yellowish color - CRS memory) to the right of the thumb wheel. When it goes bad there will not be any sound. I guess you checked the speaker?
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 03, 2009, 07:09:33 PM thanks all - just picked up this Wurlitzer with a couple of others and I am at a friends - just toyed with it to see what was wrong - will get to it when I get back on Sunday. Only remaining question is the S809 anything special. thanks.
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: knagl on July 04, 2009, 03:16:02 AM Have you tried flipping DS 3 in the opposite direction? If you're getting reel stop sounds, you can't get reel spin sounds, and vice versa (when you have spin music enabled, the arm solenoid fires three times to simulate the stop sounds).
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 04, 2009, 09:26:51 AM bit 3 on - no sound - bit 3 off - reel stop sound!
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: knagl on July 04, 2009, 07:58:35 PM Earlier in the thread you said that when DS 3 was on you were getting reel stop sounds -- I presume that was in error?
You should be getting the stop sounds with it off. However, you should be getting the reel spin sounds (and no reel stop sounds) with it on. It sounds like you're only getting half. Do you have another MPU board to try in your machine? Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 04, 2009, 08:04:46 PM it has to be the speaker/wire harness - changed boards - no sound. will change speaker when I get back to my store on monday. still want to know what a SP809 does that a 731 dosen't?
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 05, 2009, 01:44:30 AM Check your mail sir...
Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: knagl on July 05, 2009, 03:40:08 AM Let's make sure we're on the same page. When you said that you were getting reel stop sounds, were you refering to the computer-generated "click" noise from the speaker, or the physical clicking from the arm solenoid?
Also, you said you were getting a "ding" from the coin in test, right? That ding was coming from the speaker. I'm confused. :103- Title: Re: SOUND - reel spin S+ Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 05, 2009, 09:39:47 AM I appreciate all the help - there is NO SOUND - coin optic board no ding - I get reel stop "sound" which I believe is when I had bit swx 3 off! That is why I also asked for info on the SP809 prom to see if this guy has something SPECIAL since this is a Wurlitzer game. Without any spare parts handy where I picked it up - I was trying to do some pre-emptive debugging to see if was something "SIMPLE" which these IGTs seem to have plenty of (SIMPLE FIXES). Again thanks for all the help - I will provide FINAL RESULTS monday when I get this puppy up on my work bench and read up on th SP809 that one of you so thankfully provided. I just might use old faithful 731 to run this game as this SP I know.
