Title: cash box - repairs/opening Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on July 07, 2009, 01:50:42 PM I have 2 cash boxes one the o-rings on the drive roller are GONE - the other one (picture) would work HOWEVER it has a MEDECO lock - is there a way to get into the box to remove the lock WITHOUT drilling - I have never had much luck drilling out one of these MEDECO locks (guess thats why they are used).

So I used an electric hand grinder with a new metal cutting disc. I cut an "X" on the top, and then took a hard automotive chisel and punched inwards the four pieces... By punching the locks' head from the outside-to-in towards the two cuts you've made, you effectively make the diameter of the locks' head small enough to enable you to easily push it through the lock's hole! :89- You end up with absolutely NO damage to the cash box....though, I can't say the same for the MEDECO lock....lol Title: Re: cash box - repairs/opening Post by: zarobhr on July 07, 2009, 06:39:29 PM maybe if your lucky they forgot to empty the cashbox
Title: Re: cash box - repairs/opening Post by: Neonkiss on July 07, 2009, 07:29:28 PM No familiar with that type of cash box, But if it's anything like the JCM for IGT's they only use a pop rivet for the hinge.
I've then drilled out the two pop rivets and I'm in. Usually if your dealing with an item with a Medico lock you need another access point like the hinge or a manufacturing seam where two pieces are joined. |
