Title: Hmm...SP050? Anyone?...Bueller?
Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 17, 2009, 12:47:14 PM
Hiya,
Anyone have some info on these I just got from John1234567890 (wow! rudy)
I'm looking for a PSR for these perhaps?
These are slightly outdated and could be very rare? :103-
Dated 10/30/89 from IGT

Wow, earliest PSR I have is 419.  050 has got to be the earliest one I've ever seen or heard of.

Makes you wonder what SS's are compatible with this SP... :129-
I don't even know what "Type" it is, or what it can do. :128-
The only other info on the chip is that it's written to a NM27C256Q device at 250Ns. :79-

Put them in with a type 0 game and see what happens!  :5- :30- :30-
At that point you ought to be able to determine their game type by going through the setup options, and while you're there, you can poke around and see what options are and are not available.  :79-

What is interesting is that IGT had grand hopes by labeling it 050 vs just 50.
You didn't see 731 being a 0731 even though they were more than 50% of the way.

Just an observation.  :103-

i know this is a little late but i believe the rest of the info on that chip 050 is the mfg reference to lot number or part number and chip size. the 250 i believe is the chip speed ie. 250ns. quite popular during those days but rather (and i am being nice) slow today. I have an sp043 and a sp054 as my oldest. never done anything with them, until i saw this post and thought what is my oldest one.

What do ya know, I got me a set of those SP050 from Rudy too.  Very interesting, and mine were also labled  " (1-256) "  I can only assume this refers to the number of virtual reel stops.  I made a backup copy in case I want to use the Eproms for something else.  The data read out just fine with a check sum of 484A.  I'm very curious to see what these dinosaurs can do too.   :120-

Now that this topic is revived.....

The (1-256) actually means that it is intended for a 256K eprom, such as M27C256, but your guess was pretty logical!  :89- It is nice that IGT does this on their labels so that you can usually read them using the generic size listed without having to peel the label to see what part it is. (sometimes you can then ID the chip to get the MFGR information)

Hi Stat,
I have the st chips listed in another tab, I'll see if I can add any info tomorrow, oh yea, this is my anniversary weekend so I may not be on much.

Yes means psr is available

Stat, Thanks for the info on the St0060 as well as the SP add ins. Thanks Brian for the ST0024 info, I'll add it to my list (I'm sure you both have copies from the past)  I was thinking of adding in the check sum of each chip also, but will see when ther is time.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hiya :88-

Would anyone have a PSR sheet for the SP050?
When I hit the test button, it showed "1-1"...I have no clue what that is.:128-

Oh, and by the way...
I had to flip/move the jumper on the Game socket over :146-
to the "E16" pin position in order to get it to "boot up" on a 10MHz S+ board.
I would appreciate it very much! :89-

Here's some other weird things about it I don't know what's going on...
As I went into the option mode by hitting the little white test button, I got this>>>
"Winner Paid" window  "Credits" window  "Coins Played" window

[1-1]                           [blank]                [zero]
Pressing the "Spin" button gives me the option to make it [1-0] or [1-1] in the "Winner Paid" window.

Turning the reset key gets me to>>>
[2-1]                           [blank]                [zero]
Pressing the "Spin" button gives me the option to make it [2-1] or a [2-0]in the "Winner Paid" window.
That's it? No more options via the reset key?...Jeesh!....This chip is like my first Toyota Corolla!
It only had an AM radio:72-

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[10-1]                         [blank]                 [1]
Looks like the "Input Tests" page with tests from [10-1 to 42-1]...

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[10]                            [blank]                 [2]
Looks like the "Output Tests" page with tests from [10 to 46]

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[50]                            [blank]               [blank]
Looks like the "Sound Tests" page with 7 sounds from [50 to 56]

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[8888]                        [8888]                  [8]
Looks like the 'Display Test"  all eights showing...

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[0000]                        [0000]                  [zero]
This is the other "Display Test" in which the digits flash thru [1,2,4,8]

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[zero]                         [blank]                   [3]
I like this page option for checking my coin hopper
operation....pressing the "Spin" button spits out 10 coins thru the hopper optics.
But holding the "Spin" button down keeps the hopper spitting out coins continuously. :89-

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[7091]                        [blank]                   [4]
This one throws me off!  The SP chip detected that I'm running a SS7091 chip in it
but it doesn't alternate with the SP chip number? :129-
I'm running a SS7091 3CM SSchip in the reel socket for these tests...
the game is called "Bonus Sizzling 7's".
The "Spin" button is lit up....so I hit it and the reels spin to the jackpot of 1,000...
The "Credits" window displays [1000] and so on and so on- down the paytable of a BS7's award glass
every time the "Spin" button is pressed..

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[blank]                        [blank]                   [5]
Looks like the "Reel Strip Tests" page...

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[25]                           [blank]                   [6]
Looks like the coin denomination setting page where
I can make the machine think I have either a
nickel, dime,quarter,half-dollar or dollar stuck in the coin comparitor...
I set it at a quarter denom...

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[1000]                        [blank]                   [7]
The rightmost digit of zero in the "Winner Paid" window is flashing...
This looks like the  "Max Hopper Pay","Bill Acceptor Credit Limit" settings...

Hitting the "test" button again got me to>>>
[four zeros]                 [blank]                    [8]
This is page eight of the options and is for "Partial Pay" settings...

There are no more options on this SP050 chip....
Pressing the Test switch turns the display off briefly and brings the machine into regular game play mode.
The IGT techs didn't invent/steal/pay-big-bucks the [9-0] option to enable/disable the game yet.
Also, it appears that there aren't any options yet for the progressives...

This brings me to the end of chip testing for today....
I hope we learned something! :89-

Good job, very diligent Stayouttadabunker  :131-  I must admit there sure isn't many page zero settings unlike recent SP chips.  Maybe I missed it in your post but did the game play?

SS7091 Bonus Sizzling 7's and the SP050...

Yes, The game played excellent but I did have problems accepting coins...
It's the [1-1] or [2-1] options that's confusing me...I don't know what they're for?

Very interesting...
I threw in a plain Double Diamond 3CM 97% SS3664 chip in it...
Put in about 27 coins 3 at a time and
hit 3 Double Diamond symbols on the payline for the Jackpot of 2,500 credits... :72-
Now, why can't I do that in a real casino? :203-

Anyways, I am playing with the [1-1]  page "0" option setting for a little while...
I'll report back with some results shortly....stay tuned!

Bingo!

Now I know what half of the page zero options do...!
It's acting as a "Player Selectable Credit" options!
Only thing, it's either 'enabled" or "disabled" depending how you set it!

When it's set at [1-1] in the "Winner paid" window -
you have the option of turning on the "Cash/Credit" button light
and all accumulated credits won add up into the credits display.
If you set the page zero option to [1-0],
the "Cash/Credit" button remains off but as soon as you win some credits,
it lights up and credits are accumulated into the credit display.
You cannot turn on/off the "Cash/Credit" button until at least 1 credit is accumulated.

Now I gotta find out what the page zero [2-1] does... :79-
Anybody wanna take an educated guess?...LOL
(hint: it has nothing to do with the reel spin/stop sounds)

Okay...Now I know what the option [2-0] page zero does now...
It's similar to the PSR SP978 on page 3.

I will quote from PSR SP978>>>

"Game Cycle Speed  <0> [2]  Determines how long the reels spin before stopping. Options are
normal game cycle speed {0}, or fast game cycle speed {1}"

IGT skipped this option for several versions of SP chips...most of the time it was a dip-switch selection...

What happens in setup page 0, option 2 if you turn the key again? Does it go back to option 1?

Great job documenting the chip's test/setup functions! :3- :3-  We don't need no steenkin' PSRs now!  :97-

Yes, When I turn the key, it goes right back to option [1]...
I tried hitting all the panel buttons to see if it went anywhere else (in other words, searching to see if there were any more options) but couldn't find any more....
I tried this same procedure on every option page I could find on the chip.

No Bob,
I haven't tried any of the other other ones and that was back in Sept.
I'm sure I'll try the others over the wintertime.
I get lost with all the little projects I get involved with but eventually will get back to them!
Thank you for letting me try them out!
Have an excellent holiday season!
