Title: Bally Model 809 light replacement
Post by: 1inxs on July 19, 2009, 03:47:44 PM
You have a great forum here, I hope to be able to contribute as time progresses. I have owned my Bally model 809 for around two years. Recently and unknown to me, my nephews got a hold of the keys and tampered with the slot. Now I'm unable to get the door to lock. I close the door and without force can turn the key halfway, but cannot turn it fully to lock the door and remove the key. Do I need to grease the latch assembly or something? Maybe there is an adjustment? All ideas would be appreciated. I also need to replace the lower florescent light, below the large 5 cents display. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get into the light box for replacement. I know it's got to be fairly simple.

I've included pictures for reference.

if you look at the right side of the machine - near the handle - there is a metal bar with 3 'Forks' that face upward - if you use a screw driver to "lever" this metal bar forward (does have to move much) the door will close (lift up the door a little as you do).
as for the flo.  there are 2 philips head screws that hold the light frame onto the door - you can see the first one just to the left of the flor. starter - the other one is located on the right just behind the wiring

Thank you much for the quick reply. That got the door working and locking properly and I'm going to drive over to Home Depot to see if they carry the replacement bulb. + rep
