Title: Home Game Rooms
Post by: Ron (r273) on September 25, 2008, 09:13:18 AM
Ok I have been busy with moving for the last few weeks so I have been no help on transfering files, sorry. I thought I would show you what a job I have moving into a new home basement casino. It is a blank slate so it will take time. Quite a change from a 10x12 room before. This room is 28x24.

Ron, looks like you're gonna have plenty of room there. Guess its time to call DansGames for some additional inventory. You know the next show is in November!!!  :96- :96- :96-

BTW your first Karma here.

Great potential there. Very smart move to put a bathroom downstairs. Is it too late to add additional 20 amp circuits for when the collection grows and multiplies ? I put in 4 circuits initially five years ago and now I wish I had put in more. I need at least 6 more. I also put in fluorescent lighting in the ceiling and now I cannot dim the lights. I took out lamps to try and make it a little darker, but I wish I had put in recessed high hats with dimable bulbs. Harbor Freight has a hydraulic lift that I modified to move pinball games and slot machines. It goes on sale for about $ 175.00 occasionally.  It is much easier to elevate the lift to your table or stand height and slide the machine on and off when you want to rearrange the room as your collection grows. This saves your back from having to lift the machines.  I probably have redone our  gameroom at least a dozen times. Good luck, be flexible in your layout and hope that your wife understands the compulsion to keep adding.

Yeah Dan, I plan to add some more but the wife says I have enough. I only have five but I have room for just  one more :72- I may have to come to the meet by myself. :72- :72-

Frank A, I do have a Harbor Freight hydraulic lift table which was a life saver as I just moved the machines in. My Electrician friend is going to run a amp test on the circuits when I get all them hooked up along with all the lighted signs turned on. In my old house I run all five with about 9 lighted signs on one circuit and it was not overloaded on a 20 amp circuit according to the meter. Those machine don't draw as much as you might think.

Ron,

Looks good so far!  :3- :3- :3- I am jealous of the open space just waiting to be molded!

Maybe have your electrician friend see if there is HOT power available in the ceiling that is not switched... It is always good to have a couple ceiling plugs in the middle of the room that you can pull power down from. Just a thought.

Looking forward to the progress pictures!

I got 2 out of 3 of the VLC 8825's working well, had to yank the monitor out of one to get it working better (Wells Gardner) The 3rd machine has a corrupt data error i have to deal with.

   My Small House Gameroom

Hi All
I haven't been a member very long but this site has been very helpful. As I was looking around I came across the game rooms that others have. What a relief my wife thought that I was crazy collecting and working on them. After showing her that others have the same (hobby)obsessions she still thinks I'm crazy but somewhat understands. I've attached a photo of my game room, sorry for the photo quality, I work for the major film and camera maker in the world and do you think I own a decent camera, the slot take priority. Again Thanks for all the help I'm learning very much.

Here is a few pics of my game-room in getting ready for Gustov prep.  My game room is now OOC -Out of Commission  .  We just have to worry about rain from above here-Not flodding but when your roof gets ripped off it is nearly as bad.  Learned alot from katrina as we rode it out here 125 mph sustained for a LONG time!!.  Talk to everone again as soon as this storm blows by.  Just wanted to drop a line before we loose pwr./etc. .  Took us 2-1/2 weeks after katrina to get pwr. back.  Thanks to everyone here and God-bless.

Thanks....the 16inch machine that has the Double Stars will be going up for auction hopefully this week or possibly next...it will include 2 other 16 inch kits also....no..not my 9 line triple diamond!!!!  Neptune's Treasure and Big Easy Slots from the Argosy Casino....

as far as the progressives, right now they are standalone...am working on getting a super controller and all the other "stuff" to hook them up as 1 but that's probably gonna be a ways down the road...

all of the glass on the wall's are complete kits, except for 3 that are next to the 9 inch.

the 60 inch monitor is great for watching po  :58-o movies too!!! lol...JUST KIDDING!!!!

Verrrrrry cool gameroom.

I use rope lights to backlight the slot glass and bring it to life.

Just starting, but here's what I have SO far...

Nice glass display....can u explain what is holding them up and what they are attatched to?  thanks!!!

S

Thanks!!!  I kept looking for an inexpensive stand-off mount, but could never find them.  So I made them instead!

I started off with 3/4" square oak dowels.  Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I made you a diagram.  Once I was done cutting, drilling and sanding, I inserted the screws and painted them a metallic black.  The glass is heavy, but those things aren't going anywhere, trust me.  I got lucky on some and happen to find a stud.

Jay has given me this idea from his game room. It is made from three pieces of wood you can cut yourself or buy from Lowe's or Home Depot. It is spaced so you can lift out the glass without sliding the whole row out.  You can set them up for all belly glass size or as I have done using the award and belly glass separate There is enough room to put the award glass behind the belly glass if you want, but you need to remember it's there when you take out the belly glass, the award glass will fall out. I just store my favorite ones as I do not have enough wall space. I know its not lighted but it is just another way to store them on display.

I thought I would share my work in progress.  I'm still programming the Supreme.  Right now I have the lower overhead display synced with the in machine displays.  No graphics at the moment.  The upper display is currently programmed to display the current jackpot for 15 seconds, then it rotates though several different animated graphics images with the current jackpot displayed in between them for 15 seconds.  Both upper and lower display function as meters as well when the slots are played.

All the machines are connected to a CON2 which drives all the displays including the in machine displays.  Even though the machine on the left doesn't have a meter in it, it contributes to the jackpot as well.  Still waiting to hit the big one to see the fireworks.

I want a Supreme!!!!

The interesting thing about a Supreme is that it doesn't need a controller to function as a graphic display driver.  So a CON2 isn't needed if you just want to use it that way.  April has a few of them.  She also has 6 1X panels up on ebay to make a 2 X 3.  If you get a Supreme make sure you get a 2 x 3.  It has the most memory and can be used as a 1 X 3.

THANK YOU ,THANK YOU, THANK YOU! for posting those pictures  :88-
I just showed them to my wife, she says I'm not as bad as she first thought, after seeing your collection. :72-
The pachislo's in the bedroom was the "seller" hahaha.
What i do need to do is construct some custom stands that will hold a bunch of them in a line, instead of the individual ones.

She wants to know if the machines sitting in the kitchen REALLY are there..or is that "Photo-shopped" in ?

the Dozens of Diamonds is a vision ready almost a s2000 just no bonus, backlit reels or ears like the newer versions.

When I get a chance I will take a few pictures of my other indoor hobby

I would love to acquire the parts for the vision ready.
Top box hardware that would allow games like RWB with racing 7's, DD with diamond mine, WC with Cherry pie etc.
I would gather that a 16" or RT top box would be best to accommodate the upper computer and LCD.
I doint even have the sound amp lower speaker or power distro board.

The other machines are....
"Full of Sheep" (Sigma)
"Treasure Wheel" (Sigma)
"Gamemaker" (Bally)
"Gameking" (IGT)
"Bonus Frenzy" Bally Proslot 6000
"Little Devil" IGT
"Odyssey"
"Jackpot Party" (WMS)
"BigBang Piggy bankin" (WMS)
"Stampede DLX" (WMS)
"Perfect Match" (WMS)
"Jackpot Limbo" (WMS) soon to be Shopping Spree
"Palace of Riches" (WMS)

Kirk that is a nice setup.  :89- :71- :3- :3-

I agree with TJ that the lava lamp is in an odd place - it might fall over when someone gets excited playing the game.
The three Dotmations with matching white laminate and gold trim look really sharp together!

Great looking setup, Kirk!  I think, though, you'll change your Shopping Spree back to Jackpot Limbo after a while.  I didn't find Shopping Spree to be all that great of a game (it looks nice, but I didn't think it was that fun to play).

Congrats on the Game King purchase -- it looks ncie.   :89-

Is that not a Progressive Display above the IGT Little Devil?...you broke the cardinal rule of any

It actually just looks like a little LED display board that you can program messages on -- like you see in some store windows.

Holiday greetings to all!
Tell me, are you sick and tired of lifting machines?
Is the wife getting upset helping you put them on stands?
Your not feeling 25 years old anymore?
Then *YOU* need this (I love mine)
Purchased at Harbor Freight (www.harborfreight.com (http://www.harborfreight.com)) for the paultry amount of $129 this pup will save your back, save your marraige, might even save a few fingers!
No more waiting for your brother-in-law to drop by or ambushing the neighbor to put your latest "find" up on a stand.

This is a public service message, i do not work for Harbor Freight, or even get a kickback!

Nice game room jay and Kirk I need one of those in a bad way.  I have at times been using a "atv" lift when I could not get help.  And yes,  My wife hates me when I ask for help.  Years ago we actually dropped one and it smashed to smitherens!!!! :8- Wish I had some viedo of that.  I was actually pinned under the side of it.  It was a Yahtzee which weighs a friggin ton.  Yes I had 3 total until that happened!!.  I will be getting one of those anyway thanks for the post.-B.

What is the topper on the Diner ? Does it tie in to the Diner machine ? I have enclosed a few pictures of a modification to my lift that allows me to use it to move pin games.

The topper on the diner is the 1x2 Mikon display for my slots.
Just a convienent place to put it.

I agree I need one of those lifts too. I had to get 2 buddies to help lift the slots onto the stands.
I am sure I went through at least $129 in beer because of it....as far as a wife saver goes I agree
Having my drunken friends hang around doesn't make her any happier than if I had asked her to do the dead lift herself.

Another source for a lift is auto parts stores. Here's a link. $119.00 and they did discount 10% when I asked them.

Kirk
I agree it is the best!  I've had mine for about a year now.

Because Pachislos don't support progressives!  :97- :97-  (Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I've never seen a Pachislo under a linked progressive sign before. :5-)
I agree that it's a beautiful sign - have you ever tried to hook it up to one of your American slot machines?

Title: Re: Home Game Rooms
Post by: jay on April 17, 2009, 02:26:08 AM
Even if you don't have it connected to a slot you can still generate a scrolling message.

I actually had my CON1 connected up to my Pachislo. When you played it added credits to the progressive.
I had a LEDs that lit up when I added a coin and it went DING. It was a momentary blip so I hooked up a relay to it and it worked just fine.
Of course you couldn't win the progressive but it was nice to add them. I have since liquidated the pachislos.

I had thought about a way to win the progressive, but the Pachis just hit too often. It would be a simple matter of tapping a relay off of one of the lights that came on when the jackpot was won and then latching it. You would have to wait until the Pachi finished its cycle before your progressive would behave normally. This relay would go in parallel with the one that was adding credits.

I have never tried to get the sign hooked up to anything or add a scrolling message.  I have been looking around the site and it looks like it would be pretty easy to do.  I think that will be my project for next week.    I work from home, so most of my day is spent on the computer but everyday I take time to play the machines a little and a couple games of pinball. My wife thinks I don't work because every time she comes home she hears the machines. :89-

Do you have a controller separate from the board that is driving the sign ??

Title: Re: Home Game Rooms
Post by: davebernard on April 17, 2009, 09:27:52 PM
I don't have anything outside of the sign.  Their is several control boxes that are inside the sign.   One of them has the db9 plug on it. I was going to try to hook up to that and see what that will do. Do I need a special controller?

Title: Re: Home Game Rooms
Post by: jay on April 17, 2009, 10:06:27 PM
What you appear to have (some photos of the inside would enable us to confirm) is a Cham1 1x2.
I have the same square display box but not the cool 5cProgressive banner.

The board that is ribbon cable connected to the display panel will probably have the words CHAM4 or CHAM44 etched into it.
The reason that it is called a 1 x 2 is that it is 1 row tall and 2 boards wide. The 2 boards would be ribbon cable connected together.
The Cham44 is often called a LED4 - which stands for Link Extension Device.

The DB9 on the Cham44 board doesn't do anything and won't respond to a PC.

The board will have 2 sets of PINs. One set is connected to the Power supply below the board and the other 2 pins at the end of the board would be connected to another box called a CON1 progressive controller.

The con1 could be inside the sign - mine resides in the top box of the slot. Con1's come in different sizes - there is the standalone model which is designed for 1 slot, a 4, 8, 16 and 32 port model.
This device also has a DB9 which will connect up to a PC - you do however need a piece of software called PSP to program it.

The reason the display controller is called a LED4 is that the CON1 is designed to LINK several slots together into a single progressive.

Let us know what you got and I am sure we can get you fixed up with enough stuff to get this working.

Here is what is inside my sign. On the back of the sign their is a two boards that are connected together with a ribbon cable. And the metal box with the other board sits inside the sign box.  Any info on getting my sign to  have something other then $0.00 and C1 would be great!

Title: Re: Home Game Rooms
Post by: idesign on April 18, 2009, 09:19:22 PM
You have a 1 X 2 graphics display driven by a supreme.  You can not use it as a progressive display without connection it to a CON2.  You can however use it as a graphics display.  You use the Windows Downloader software to program it using the db9 connector.  In order to program it to do graphics you need graphic files to upload to it.  Not just ordinary graphic files but files that were created just for it,  MIK files.

Title: Re: Home Game Rooms
Post by: davebernard on April 19, 2009, 12:09:51 AM
That works.  Can i have it say any message I want or does it have to be something that is programed into that specific file format?  Do I have to create those graphic files or can I download  them somewhere?

Title: Re: Home Game Rooms
Post by: jay on April 19, 2009, 12:48:49 AM
You can have any message you want.....The message is different from that of the Graphics.... so for instance you could have coins dropping or flames in the back ground and then the Words "Welcome to Daves Casino where the machines are HOT HOT HOT" scrolling, fading, flashing, or changing colors.... The message can actually be quite long and actually appear to be several messages and you can have multiple graphic sequences.

I just have the older CON1 equipment - yours has way more capabilities - Idesign is the resident expert.  I am sure some of the other members have some graphic sequences they can send you.

I didn't see what kind of slot you had. If it is NOT and IGT, Joey has a brand new CON2 available. For an IGT platform you need a CON2I.

That is an amazing collection. It's too bad that they don't let the public in.

There is another private collection that has some similarity to this which is now housed in a museum. It is the Nethercutt collection. The Nethercutts collected old cars and music machines, and they also had a full-sized organ. One thing that makes the car collection so fascinating is that every single car in the collection is gassed up and ready to run, even those from the turn of the century.

Hi all,

As posted in the 'welcome wagon' section, I've got a few machines. I haven't been able to dig out pics of all of them, but here's a couple that are in my house. Wife promises that one day I'll get to have an actual game room (need a bigger house first, though).

I'm very impressed with a lot of the Home Game Rooms I've seen so far!

My machines;
- old Bally 785(?) EM, works great (covered, in storage)
- IGT S-Slot, coin only, 5 or so game kits, worked but is dead after sitting for the last few years (will begin troubleshooting soon)
- IGT Fortune I Draw Poker in showroom condition (crt is like new)
- IGT S+ Slot, Double Diamond Deluxe (recent acquire, good condition)
- Showdown Poker (100% but inop, very rare, first automatic draw poker machine, mfg'd in Reno)
---owned but got rid of a couple of old Sigma slant tops
- Also have a couple of pinball machines (in storage as well)

Being in Oregon, where most of these machines are illegal, it's rather hard to build up any type of nice collection.

Finally have the new slot room taking shape. Picked up an LED chaser board and put Garfield on my Magnificent 7's machine.
The slot stands are three old black stands set 8" apart. Outer skin is floor laminate attached to 3/8" plywood. In the center there is a door made of a frame and slant top side glass. Inside is the powerstrip for the machines on that stand. On top of the stands are Home Depot laminate counter tops.
I would like to thank Buzz who provided some great deals on the Cash Express slot chairs and Garfield!! And to Joey for the Magnificent 7 roundtop pay glass and the 25 cent sign!

Thanks Ron, I got the countertop idea from you. The baseboards are notched to keep the face flush with the wall. It looks a little distorted in the pic, just a square cut. The setup can be taken down in minutes if I wanted to move it.
Now the Michigan pillow still has the tag on it because it says "Do not remove under penalty of law".  :200-  :72-

Cool - Never seen a 8116 slant before.

I don't think they call it a slant? Not sure what it is?? Standup??
Here are a couple of pics from a laminated Universal product catalog. The first is two slants, one a three-reeler and the second a video poker. The only 8116 slant I ever seen was in an ebay auction from South America some time ago.
The second picture shows two video pokers in the standup style like mine.  (sorry about the glare)

Thanks for the Pics.

Have never seen any of those here in SA although we did have the Sunrise Slants. Here they distributed Sigma'pokers with universal tags on them.

Ian

Staz,  Your monte is "Toperless".   Your wof swamps it in the photos due to the slot bases.  On a normal basis the monte's/cash wheels are quite and I say quite tall.  Probably ceiling Height issues I would think.  I do like my cash wheel I have but come to find out it was a much rarer theme that I picked.  I guess that is why I liked it and it is a Blast to play.  With igt and others etc. I based my opinion on that as far as the Bally goes.  On the Main manuf. Heavy hitter themes most of them are fun to me.  Igt still has the edge in my opinion on those.  B.

Looks like I need to revise an old topic.

I have been looking for a Denver Duck for some time now. After checking with several dealers
Bettor Slots, Jim found one for me. And did he ever, very clean, excellent reel strips and good
chrome front, worth every penny. Here is a picture.

Thanks Jim  :3- :131-
