Title: Credits / Cash / Display
Post by: U.S.AutoService on August 04, 2009, 10:32:17 PM
I just change a game out, and I did all the right stuff like ram clear and chip clear... the machine is up and running.  But I now the display in the lower left side is diffrent.  It use to be detailed, and show dollar amount and credits etc... now , its just plain , and displays play 3 credits...  Someone  suggested that I put in my old game chips to regain the display, but that will not match the reel strips and the frenzy with the old chips.  is there an easy-er way to get the better display back ?  Is it in the stepper (what ever that does) chip maybe ?  Oh, and another thing, the dates on the two game chips are older than the copyright on the glass, did I get some older generic chips with my game kit ?

sounds like you may have put in an older version chip. It is the chip in U44 socket on the cpu board. Use the version chip you had in there from your last game and you should be fine. Leave the new game chips in and just change the chip in U44 which is the version chip and it should be back to the way you want it.

usautoservice,
Do you know what version chip
was in the U44 socket before you did the change?
Also, by changing it back, did you get the desired display?

What stepper game chips (GME1 and GME2) did you use with the new kit?  Some of the older GME chips do not support split screens on the vfd display.

I wonder which stepper game chip versions do support the split screen... :128-

Thank you very, very much Ruden!   :131-
I've been doing quite a bit of reading on the S2000 platform both here and on the IGT website.
Of course, I cannot "log" into the IGT website because I'm not a casino and
they do NOT support home owners like me.
They only care about the guys and corporations that have the big bucks...
However, I can get basic stuff from there anyhow...machine models/game types, etc.

As an owner of an S+, most of the way an S2000 is laid out, is different for me.
I'm presently collecting/gathering reference materials/game kits for the S2000 like I did for the S+ platform.
It's a pretty neat hobby for me... :89-

OUCH ! Ruden , I'm not a slot dealer or a slot tech. I have only been into slots for a few months.  That's why I came on here to learn, get answers from real people who know a lot more than me.   I don't claim to know it all and I guess my question proves that.  I never did a game swap before and didn't know the correct procedure , had I know about the version chip numbers I would have posted it.   If I had the answer why would I need to be asking the questions ?  That's how you solve problems, Q & A more Q's & more  A's  equals results.  I bought 20 of these IGT's s2000 , I have 18 of them working working on the other 2 in my free time.   A lot because of the info I learned from this websight.  Maybe I should not be posting questions here till I know what I am talking about, but then, I would not need to be posting. But because this websight has help me, I have given a donation in support of it.  And would like to thank everyone who has offered there advice freely and thoughfully.

If you're going to post a question about a problem, include the pertinent information (i.e., what game was in the machine, what game did you put in, what version and stepper game proms did you use and which ones were in there before?).  If I came in to get my car fixed and said "I did something to the car when I was working on it and now it's acting funny", would that be enough for you to diagnose and correct the problem?

I fail to understand why people on this forum repeatedly don't do two things:

1 - Use the search function (because this question has been asked repeatedly over the years)
2 - Post all relevant information to the problem at hand in lieu of vague generalities that do nothing but waste time and make other members have to ask the questions for you

Since you didn't provide all the necessary information, the answer to your problem is most likely to use:

VS011GX1
SG000363

With all but one or two exceptions, the rule is that version chips ending in 1 support multi-denomination and ones ending in 0 do not.  It floors me that there's not even a simple FAQ on this site for basic issues like this.

Ruden,
Would you consider coming up with a FAQ on this stuff and posting it up for us mortals? :79-

Would I be correct in saying that the SG000363 chip
allows the vaccuum display to show the split screen?

Try putting the VS011GX1 back in first.  Since it gave you the split screen to begin with it may just work.  Worth a try anyway.

That chip (VS011GX1) is the one that is in there now.
I took out a VS009VX0....

:103- :103- maybe I didn't have the split screan before, but that option was one reason I used that machine to convert to Wild Thing.

Now now boys...Take it out into the schoolyard... :14-

Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of a discussion board, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), by e-mail or on Video-sharing websites.

[edit] Causes

An Internet user typically generates a flame response to other posts or users posting on a site, and such a response is usually not constructive, does not clarify a discussion, and does not persuade others. Sometimes, flamers attempt to assert their authority, or establish a position of superiority over other users. Other times, a flamer is simply an individual who believes he or she carries the only valid opinion. This leads him or her to personally attack those who disagree. In some cases, flamers wish to upset and offend other members of the forum, in which case they can be called "trolls". Most often however, flamers are angry or insulting messages transmitted by people who have strong feelings about a subject.

Jay Forrester, in discussing participants' internal modeling of a discussion, says:

Mental models are fuzzy, incomplete, and imprecisely stated. Furthermore, within a single individual, mental models change with time, even during the flow of a single conversation. The human mind assembles a few relationships to fit the context of a discussion. As debate shifts, so do the mental models. Even when only a single topic is being discussed, each participant in a conversation employs a different mental model to interpret the subject. Fundamental assumptions differ but are never brought into the open. Goals are different but left unstated. It is little wonder that compromise takes so long. And even when consensus is reached, the underlying assumptions may be fallacies that lead to laws and programs that fail. The human mind is not adapted to understanding correctly the consequences implied by a mental model. A mental model may be correct in structure and assumptions but, even so, the human mind--either individually or as a group consensus--is apt to draw the wrong implications for the future.[1]

Some equate flaming with simply letting off steam, though the receiving party may be less than pleased. Similarly, a normal, non-flame message may have elements of a flame—it may be hostile, for example—but it is not a flame if its author seriously intends to advance the discussion. The word "flaming" is also sometimes used for long, intensive and heated discussions, even though insults do not occur.
