Title: Cheap multi machine progressive idea Post by: jstraa on August 08, 2009, 09:40:17 PM I'm not too bright with progressives, but when I hooked my mikohn progressive up to my S+
i had this great idea! (at least I think it is) What about if you make like 5 wires and connect them all to a mikon Cham II + and S+ main boards then it would increase when each of the buttons are pressed / coins are inserted in 1 or more of those 5 S+ machines. The only thing that should not happen is that it receives a pulse for 1 second, because that triggers the jackpot. Could this be possible? If it IS possible, it could be kind a cheap way to make a linked progressive. The only downside would be when it hits it doesn't say which machie it hitted on. Title: Re: Cheap multi machine progressive idea Post by: jay on August 09, 2009, 02:14:04 AM I think this has been done before.
There are a few minor problems..... but nothing too outrageous. 1. The ChamII+ only supports one display. 2. If you were to put a coin in two machines at close to the same time you will miss counting one of the coins. 3. If you were to say have 4 machines hooked up and coins were dropped in sequence on right after another you could possiibly trigger the Cham to think it was in jackpot just because each of the machines shorting in sequence would cumatively create a longer short. 4. The problem you described of not knowing which machine triggered the jackpot is really not a concern as the machine would be in hand pay mode locked up and the third wire (data return) would be displaying the amount of the jackpot on the credit meters. Title: Re: Cheap multi machine progressive idea Post by: idesign on August 09, 2009, 11:14:14 AM Correct me if I am wrong, but the CHAMII+ can drive 2 displays with 2 different jackpot amount as I recall. It can only support one machine though.

the two different displays with two amounts are two different progressive levels. You can't have two displays - display the same amount. While the board is designed for 1 slot you could parallel the wires subject to the pit falls I outlined above. Mikohn seems to think so! :97- :97- Title: Re: Cheap multi machine progressive idea Post by: jay on August 09, 2009, 04:05:13 PM I have one of these ..... nevedr used it for that purpose.... good find Bill.
Title: Re: Cheap multi machine progressive idea Post by: CaptainHappy on August 09, 2009, 04:08:04 PM VERY SIMPLE looking PCB! I guess that is why we NEVER throw out slot parts! :25- :25- :25-

I'll use it when I get my 2x3 and Supreme display programmed and hooked up to the CON2I. I had it working with the 1x3 and CON2, but needed more real estate. :72- :72- Title: Re: Cheap multi machine progressive idea Post by: brichter on August 09, 2009, 04:10:16 PM VERY SIMPLE looking PCB! That splitter seems to do the trick |
