Title: Yet another new member
Post by: 89chevyman on August 13, 2009, 04:26:37 AM
Hello. I found out about this site from a friend of mine that I got "hooked" on the slot machine collection obssession. I started off always wanting a slot machine as a kid and finally (after an undisclosed amount of years) got my first machine, an IGT Triple Bonanza quarter machine. It didn't work, but it didn't take long before I found a slot tech, and new found friend, and that was the beginning to this great hobby(?). It became apparent that I was hooked when I bought my 2nd machine, a bargin priced, nonworking Bally  California Dreamin slant top w/casino chair ($50), just needed cleaning and a new battery. Must........ keep....... looking. FOUND!!! My 3rd machine, IGT $.05 Haywire w/stand in working condition. Then my friend at work began getting curious about my machines. I told him I'd find one for him. Found!!!  A nonworking $.05 IGT video poker machine $25. About $125 later, he had a beautiful working machine (very clean after hours of work). And an addict was born. He just recently picked up a IGT Double Double Bonus slant top, dirty but cleaned up well. Needs a little work, but that's the fun. Which is why I'm here, I think it's so satisfying to find a machine, clean it, repair it and then display it. Most importantly, to enjoy playing them!! I'm not tech savvy and will probably ask a lot of questions so bear with me. Thanks. Oh by the way, my hooked friend repaid the favor and got me to buy a 1977 Gottlieb pinball machine BECAUSE HE HAS A PINBALL MACHINE!! Now I have to get it operational (more questions, sorry).

Hi 89chevyman, and welcome to NLG.  :88-

It's obvious that you've got it bad, which means that you'll fit right in here!  :97- :97-
Never be sorry about having to ask more questions; without them, there'd be no forum, so ask away.
We do have some pinball experts on the site. Browse the main forum page to find the pinball board.

I read your other post, but don't know much about the CEI's, however, someone will almost certainly have an answer for you.

Again, welcome to NewLifeGames,

First,  :88- welcome to the site.  You'll like it here. :89-  There are some really smart assed people here that can and will help you with just about anything you need help with, assuming it's about pinball machines or slot machines just don't expect much from me though except comments and the occasional cheap DBV illuminated sticker.   :72-

Second, I have to agree with Captain Happy.  It only gets worse. :71-  We went from 4 to 15 in just a short amount of time.  Let me make a suggestion, DO NOT LEAVE IT DARK IN YOUR GAME ROOM  :72- because these things breed faster than rabbits  :97- :72- :97-

I have stacks of those pamflets from various casinos....."Know when to stop" . "When its not a game any more",   "Set your limit" etc.

Personally those gaming hotlines are useless... I call them up and say - this is Jay, I have a problem.
They respond all helpful and such.... but you tell them you are holding a 8/6 combo against the dealer showing a 9
and they like fricking hang up on you.... useless I tell you.

I can stop anytime my wife makes me.....  :72-

Have you tried telling them that your problem is that you can't stop buying slot machines? :127-
I wonder how they'd respond to that? :96-

Thanks for the warm welcome, I too now have a place to go and chat with like minds or those out of theirs, like me!!!!! As for the 89 chevy, its my other vice (hobby). Long story short, bought it w/54K in 2001, showroom condition 2nd owner, Memorial Day 2001 coming home from dinning out, slowed down for disabled vehicle(no lights-driving on battery- towing a trailer) Looked up rear view mirror yelled to wife hold on, Toyota pu w/off-road light bar on front, 65+ "didn't see my brake lights=major damage=hospital trip=near totaled. Complete repair, all new paint, changed front grill to '94,smoothie bumper, new '94 high back buckets seats(whiplash won't get us again). Yet to install- '94 door panels, dash gauges, lowering kit, tow hitch & spare tire relocator. Its just a means of transportation to pick up more machines. Pinball machine is a "Super Spin" Gottlieb 1977.

Buzz, I think for Your Projects, we'd be better off to start a Whole New Site!!!  :72-

You just keep downloading them onto your computer and re-using the card -- of course, you might run out of hard drive space before you're done! :30- :72- :72-

89chevyman, you can also create your own personal picture gallery in the gallery section. That's one of our best kept secrets. Only a couple of members have done this, but it's really a cool feature of the forum. :89-
