Title: fortune i or ii or what?
Post by: icu44444 on August 16, 2009, 12:13:11 AM
hi
i noticed this request on here before and now I am going through same thing. I have a igt video poker machine and I cant tell if it is a fortune I  or fortune II. I described it to some repair guys and they coulnt agree based on what I told them. It has model number 1170B  on the outside of cabinet and inside on bottom panel same model 1170B, manufactured 2/95. I has two boards on a pullout tray of bottom shelf of card cage located right above the video display. One card appears to be an i/o card the other a tone generator card. there is one empty adapter card slot  on mpu card that lines up with a upper tray in card cage above the monitor. Is this machine supposed to have a third adapter board or is that for expansion or special cards? On the tone generator board there are a couple of sockets without chips, specifically lower right corner of board labeled "bus socket" Can anyone tell me if a chip is supposed to be there and if I am missing it what is it called? Also just left of center of the board are 4 chip sockets u7-psg2, u8-psg1, u9-psg0, u10-psg3, u8 and u9 have what appears to be sound chips installed, u7 and u10 sockets are empty. Are  chips supposed to be installed there also???????. it has one eprom chip on it labled 059 sound. I know these are alot of questions which is why my first question was what machine is it? is it the right model number for it or was this possibly a different game installed in cabinet. sorry for all the questions but everything i have on hand (which is never enough) to read i still cant clearly figure out what it is. I included a bunch of pics to help for visual aid. i figure some of the sharpest slot people are on here and as i have never worked on one of these before i thought I would ask for input from you all
thanks
kevin

95 seems awfully late for a Fortune 1.

do the boards say Bally on them?  I have seen some FT1 with bally boards.  Normally a FT1 has one cpu with the battery attached to the left rear - the FT2 has a daughter board with the battery.  This is the only way I could figure the 2 out.

That's a fortune 2, there are 2 trays above the monitor. The bottom tray has 2 boards on it. The board on the left is a sound board and on the right is the I/O board. On the top tray is the main board. I'll pull my boards and take some pictures tonight and post them.
