Title: Looking for some cleaning tips on my Bally EM slot
Post by: coinop on August 16, 2009, 11:36:44 PM
I started working on my Bally 809 that has been idol for some time. Spring has come and gone without this game getting some lovin' but this machine needs a cleaning badly. With in a few pulls your hands get a grease blackness on them.  :37- I'm not having it!!! Any cleaning tips besides the obvious hopper, coin tray. mechs and coins?

Thanks!

Well obviously their should be no black grease on the handle to get on your hands.
If their is black gunk on the coins, to could be that the hopper star (agitator) is breaking down and the rubber turns to goo

For removing old dried up grease from the reel mech, I remove the reel bundle first. Then take it outside and give it a good blasting with mineral spirits thru a siphon pressure blaster like this one.    http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=97014
Then re-lube everything and reassembly. Saves a lot of time and you don't have to try to remember where all those spring went to.  :30-

Thanks for the response. You hit the nail right on the head. It has broken down and is all gooey. It is a real mess. Parts needed!
