Title: S+ weird problem Post by: jstraa on August 21, 2009, 07:17:10 PM I bought a S+ with code 12 and put in another board with a new game in it (triple jackpot).
I installed the board again, it came up 61-1 pressed white button for 3 seconds and then 65-3 and 65-1 came up. I shutted down the machine, and put it on again, again 61-1 and the rest appeared. Took the board out, put it in another machine and managed to clear the 61-1 and play the game. Put the board back in the original machine and got the 61-1 with the other errors again! I'm confused, what am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. A 65-3 should turn to a 65-1 after you turn the keyswitch, but then once you have the 65-1 you need to open the door and press the self-test button for a few seconds, not turn off the machine as you said you did. In addition to the MPU board, each machine has a motherboard with an EEPROM on it that holds data. If the EEPROM data doesn't match what it's expecting to see on the MPU board, you'll get the error codes you encountered. :71-
Title: Re: S+ weird problem Post by: jay on August 22, 2009, 09:39:45 AM There is a CMOS in both the Motherboard (fixed board inside the machine) and the MPU board and they both have to be in sync or the 61-1 will appear.
If you take your MPU board out of a machine in working state and put it back in you will not get a 61-1 however since you never cleared the first machine they were not in sync. Using the MPU in another machine and putting it back will again cause the 61-1 as they are out of sync again. The error 12 is a low battery. You can replace the battery and use that board also. Do it before the battery begins to leak. After a battery low you often need to use a Clear chip as the contents of the CMOS is scattered and needs to be put back in order and thats what a clear esscentially does. |
