Title: 61-1 won't clear - bv issue?
Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on September 07, 2009, 04:09:34 PM
I am trying to fix a S+ for a customer - he bought it not working - supposedly a comparitor issue - machine arrived here dead - found the SP chip was not even seated.  the bv was missing the stacker so I disconnected the plugs going the bv head. Kept on getting coin problems -coins would go thru not register - changed over an known good imonex setup (Q4 cut on Optic board) get 21 errors and machine will not reset - clear chip - reset coin to 25c etc  61 to 61-1 will not clear.  My question - on the BV door - if the bv is disconnected at the bill head - and there is no bill stacker - does the bill door switch still work as if the door optics are not working??

no,
Disable the DBV in your settings...just to be sure anyhow...
it really sounds like the eeprom on the motherboard is corrupted.
Whenever the 61-1 ( Should clear by closing door and turning reset key) doesn't clear,
another problem usually is the door optics.
Change with known good optics...
if not, replace the eeprom on the motherboard ( easily obtainable online) or get another motherboard...
they're pretty cheap too.

tried new optics - new board - again - if the BV switches are not disabled - will that cause this problem?  I know if you have a complete game with bv and the bv door is not closed - gives problems with clearing errors and accepting coins.  I am going to try pulling all the connectors to the bv and see if that works.  Just thought I would ask first.

I agree, fiddle with it..you'll get it...
I have several S+'s without DBV's...
All I did was disable the DBV in the options settings and pulled the DBV power cord...
The cash box switch had no effect.
In fact, I don't even have cashbox switches...
The that do have the switches are cut off the switches and wired together and taped up.

Barry    doesn't matter what the status of the bill acceptor is, you still should be able to clear the code and play the game. As you suspect the ground loop for the cash can door is probably open somewhere.  The easiest test for this is to check the green wire on the cabinet optics plug. this should read ground. put a meter on the green pin and the other to any metal part,( usually the floor of the machine) you should read ground, do the same for the door optics plug , should get the same results. If no ground check the black plug on the mother board ( long skinny one on the right front as you look at the machine) pins 9 or 10  (green wire). or trace the green wiring associated with the cash door switch.  hope this helps

the problem was someone installed the door optic incorrectly - and the bv door switch was broken - so ALL IS WELL - thank you.
