Title: Change BV conenctor ?
Post by: nilgaming on September 16, 2009, 04:15:14 PM
Hi all,

I recently bought a machine with a BV.
When i received it the BV was inside, looking good, but not really meant to be there.
In fact the connector inside the machine is not the same connector as the BV connector.
Obviously they d not match.
Question 1 :
What kind of BV is that ? brand ? Model ? i think it's a JCM but i am new to BV so i might be wrong.
Question 2 :
How can i make these 2 match ?
Can I change the BV connector to fit in the other one ?

see pictures below...

Thanks !

All is fine inside the machine (stacker, ...) except the connector.

thanks a lot !

What you have there is a WBA22/23 frame, which is what the machine was equipped with, but an obsolete WBA20 transport.  Maybe the seller did a nasty switch on you. It is possible to upgrade the 10/11/20/21 to the 12/13/22/23 - we've been discussing the availability of upgrade kits here recently - or you may be better off to get a used 12/13/22/23. The WBA12 is US Flash, the 13 is US EPROM. The 22 is Euro flash, the 23 is Euro EPROM. Change a 12/13 into a 22/23 just by swapping the head, and of course updating the software.

Hi,

thanks a lot for the explaination.
Seems very complicated to me...  :103-

I have no clue where to find ... i don't even know what i am looking for !
A "WBA22/23 transport" ? is that what i should look for ?
Then i swap the head (what's the head ? and with what  :103-)
And i update the software...  :8-

I'm lost. I guess i can just throw that thing away and forget it...  :8-

thanks op-bell

The head is the bit the note enters that contains all the sensors. There's a bar across the front of the BV, if you push it down you can slide the head out forward. It's a block about 80mm square and 30mm deep. All WBAs use the same head so at least keep that bit. Don't despair, there are millions of WBAs around on the used market and all the help you need here to get up and running. What is the game - what manufacturer?

you only need the transport, the head is the same. You could use either a WBA 13/23 eprom version (13 and 23 transport are interchangeable), you would need the software of course.  You can use the Flash versions, but you need to be able to flash them with the software.  You could also convert the current transport, but I doubt it would be any cheaper and the software would still be required.

Thanks,
Wayne

It would be easier to change the machine harness to match the Bill Acceptor.  The housing would be the same.

Thanks,
Wayne

here are pics of heads, it pulls out of the transport by pressing down on the bar below it and pulling the head out.  The pics were to show the difference between wba 1x and wba2x heads.

That's assuming the WBA20 works. I wouldn't go to the trouble of changing the harness without knowing that first.
There hasn't been a Euro firmware update for the 20/21 since 2004, so I'm of the opinion that the seller pulled the real transport and shoved a bit of junk in its place.
