Title: Jackpot Jungle Board Photos (S or S Plus?)
Post by: Yoeddy1 on September 18, 2009, 01:34:09 AM
So in another thread there was some discussion about my recently acquired 1988 IGT Jackpot Jungle.

Is this thing an S or an S+?
Can it be converted to other games?
Any info about the board would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure that is a M machine. S's were very close to the S+ style of board.

Along the bottom of the board is a socketed chip with a white label.
It should have an RS number on it......

RS chips predated the SS series of chips.... and I believe that they can be used in a S+

If you checkout the Submit a new file area some kind soul uploaded a IGT Mechanical Slot Manual that might help you along.

your machine is a S model     you can tell by the three plugs needed for the logic board.    you can have different games, only games like double diamond ,rwb, wild cherry, etc.  no nudge games or re spin types.   the game does not use a SP chip.  its game numbers are preceded by a RS-XXXX.  on most data sheets they will post the RS out in the margin if it is compatabile with a S model.  I never saw a red wire like that before, it must be a direct line to something that was broke.

M series boards were mounted on a tray and went into a card cage above the reel mech.

M+ boards were closer to S+ boards in the fact that they were mounted and installed like the card cage of a S+

Funny thing is there's two wires soldered to the board....
The red wire Jim mentioned is going to the positive terminal for the battery location.
The negative wire is there too but hard to see because the photo is so dark.
Looks like someone tried a battery mod

Mark and Jay        this thread kind of exists       check down the page   Sept 09  post   Jackpot Jungle      IGT S and S-Plus Reel Games     describes why the wires are there etc.

Jay    Had a long and busy summer, it started in April and just now let up.   Glad to see that you were able to get the Keno issue resolved, hope all is well

Now that you mention it I remember Yoeddy saying that his board does indeed have a battery mod on it.

Ok that's cool. As long as it's running, which it is.  What I'm curious of however, is if I get a 64 error (bad EPROM), which EPROM needs replaced?  It hasn't happend, I'm just trying to get a feel for parts availability for this thing.

And yes, it does have a 3AA battery pack installed, which for me is good because I'm not solder smart.
