Title: Changing SP731 to Sp1137
Post by: Magicslots on September 30, 2009, 01:32:51 PM
At the suggestions of  several wise ones here on the site, I am changing out my SP from the 731 to the 1137.
I have never changed an SP before so I am hunting  a step by step list for this changeout  to help erase my ignorance. Have a Set086
to go with it.  Never having used a set chip, I want to know: Do I use it first for ram clear etc?  Have the PSR for the 1137 thanks to the generosity of one of
sites best posters :3-
So,  :5- Please tell this ignorant old man where/how to start.  Thanks :3-

First you replace the SP chip and boot up the game, clear all the errors and make sure your game is playable with coins.  Then you use the set chip and setup token values, enable DBV, etc.

My guess is that you will see these errors after the SP change.

You might get a 66 error, which you clear by opening the door and power off then on (this is basically a warning that the sp game chip has been changed and that if you proceed, it may re-initialize the eeprom data that holds settings and accounting information).

Then you might get a 65_1 error, which means the data in eeprom is not compatible with your chip (the error 66 warning).  You hold the reset button a couple of seconds, you will hear a ding and the error should clear, this will re-init your eeprom to the correct format for that chip.  You should at this point close the door and should be able to play with coins (your dbv will be disabled if you have one).

Then use your set chip to setup dbv and token value.

If you don't have it bookmarked already, this page (http://www.newlifegames.net/igterrors/) (which can be found in a link from Rick's FAQ Files (button at the top of the page)) has a list of most of the S+ errors and how to resolve them.

Of course remember to have the power of the game off when you remove the board.  Also, when you have the set chip in for the temporary time you're using it, you do not need to put the hopper in the machine.  (It's okay to power up the machine with the hopper removed, however, never remove or insert the hopper with the power on.)

You will almost never need to use the clear chip on your S+, except the one time you need to and you don't have one.  :5-

Typically you should not need to use a clear chip prior to changing the SP chip.

O.K. Guys, changed out the chips successfully and used the Set086 :96-
Denom appears to be correct, game plays fine, DBV enabled...so far so good :25-
Now How do I enable to cash/credit button option? ..put in a buck and it goes straight to credits,
Also what is the difference between the credit types?  Euro Credit/noncredit, Nevada style credit/non-credit,
Semi euro, Token credit??   :103- I am confused :5-
Thanks a million for all the help so far :72-
I am sure there will be more questions to follow :58-

Using your PSR, go into the settings and choose the second setting...

Using the search on NLG...type in "Montana credits" and
you'll see some topics referring you to this question.

By the way, I really don't know the difference either...
It all sounds so.....european!... :96-

O.K. understand the Eurocredit stuff, sort of :5-

But, I cant find the option to set the player initiated credit in the PSR,
Cant seem to find a way to get a [2] in the winner paid window like I saw in some other posts.
The Winner paid [5]  option comes up, but the way I read it this is for the Euro/Nevada/Token credit etc, options.
:99- What am I missing or reading wrong?

By the way, I got the attract music to play :3-  But my machine plays it once every 30-40 seconds, so this will get old quick :30-
Now you guys can flame me hard and tell me that you told me so!  :131-

Reading through the PSR, I don't see a selection for it.  I don't have the 1137 in any of my machines right now, either.  You really want the machine to normally act like a change machine unless the user first pushes the credit button?  I guess it's just personal preference, but I've never wanted my machines set like that...

I'm not even sure that modern-day casino machines have that option (they want to keep the money that's put in a machine!).  Further, if you wanted to get quarters for the bill you just put in, you'd just have to press the "cash out" button...  If nothing else, that's a work-around.

I guess its just what I am used to.  That's the way it was set up for the SP731.  :5-
It was set so I had to hit the button to light it up and then put the bills in.  I play a lot with coins..
I guess its not really that crucial. Just trying to learn.  The PSR doesn't seem as detailed as the one for the 731 was, maybe there
is not as many options or they are just all different.

You didn't happen to see the sequence for setting the credit limit in the PSR did you? :103-
I read the hopper limit as <7> [1]  but didn't see how to follow up and set the credit limit..

I am shooting for 1000 max coins payed out and Jackpot lockup at 1001 or above...

This is all new to me as it is the only SP I have ever had besides a SP731

Okay,
Group 2--Page Zero Options on the fourth page of your PSR.
Turn the reset key until you get to <0>[3]. (This is on the 6th page of your PSR)
The PSR states>>>

[This page is displayed only if the credit type selected is blah,blah,blah.....
Determines the amount of credits that can be accumulated before winning amounts are paid by the hopper.
If set at 0000, the limit automatically defaults to the highest nonprogressive win amount in the paytable]

So, go back to <0>[5], press the Test button once and you'll see four numbers in the Winner Paid window and
a "3" in the Credits window...there should be a "0" in the Coins Played window.
The first digit in the Winner Paid window will be flashing...press the Spin button to set it to zero.
Now, turn the rest key once more and the second digit will be flashing....press the Spin button until you get a zero.
Do the same thing for the last two digits....put them all at 0000.

If this doesn't work, then set those numbers to 9999 and you oughta be in business! :89-

Play with the 8 different Credit Type Selections on page <0>[5]...
Each time you set one option, close the door and just push on the Cash/Credit button a couple of times
before I put quarters in....if the button lights up, then I know it's set to "Player-Initiated" credits.
If the Credits button doesn't light up, then I know it will only light up when I hit a winning combo.
