I rarely see slant top/sit down machines advertised for sale. How do you folks feel about them? Do you love them or hate them? I know that they are a son of a gun to transport and are bulky to boot. I like the sit down pokers and prefer them to the upright ones for comfort in playing. I played the Bally game maker in a sit down version at Foxwoods lots of times and just felt more comfortable in extended play.

I'd love to have one really....I think they are way more comfortable for home use...
At "live" casinos, I tend to start sliding down into the stool chair with my feet
on the side of the machine or they are jammed on top of useless coin trays... :72-

Sitting at the blackjack tables and chatting with the dealer or players is my cup of tea really... :89-

If you want to play a machine for a long time then the slant top is best. My Universal Ultra Series slant tops had two wheels and hand holes in the back. You could tilt them back and roll them anywhere. I played them much longer than my uprights as they are much more comfortable. Had too many machines so I sold the slants.  :8-
Slant tops and game kits for slant tops are less expensive too.

The uprights are the more beautiful machine with more glass and they have that traditional one arm.

Slant tops are heavy as hell, but they are more comfortable, especially for marathon Poker Players!!! Still looking for a Slant Top AVP machine for poker, I think I am going to skip GameKing/Igame slant top in the hopes of the AVP finding me!  :71- :89- :71- As was stated the uprights display the glass and have better looks!

 :103- i prefer the upright models, in my country the people doesn´t feel comfy whit this kind of machines, for owner needs to much space in places where to be installed, in my country some people, re-assembly those machines in upright cabinets, and for technical service exist another troubles too, the hopper scalators are a complete nightmare, for technical service, some companies use this cabinets only whit progressive systems :30-.

my goodness, I don't like the idea of a "hopper escalator"...
I'm thinking that sounds like something that would constantly jam up...
Any thoughts on the reliability of these things?

 :72- :72- :72- :97- :97- :30- Believe me personally i think that in US casinos this units can work properly, but leave me tell  that here  the coins is a biggest trouble, sometimes the hopper unit is modify, or another times the hopper is disabled, two coins pass and lock the escalator, hard to me in the past specially whit igt and williams 360, here 1 coin out = hopper empty, or hopper jam  :97- really crazy for me.

Slants are definitely more comfortable to play, but take up a little bit more floor space(less fit on a truck) and are much heavier to move.  For stepper slots they don't have a handle.  I like slants set up as coinless (bills in Tickets out), which eliminates coin issues.  I also noticed that some have better sound than an upright (S2000).  I'm sure we all  sell the slants for lower prices than uprights, this is market driven.

The slant elevators are well engineered but they are designed for a specific size of coin.

Pachislo tokens which are .944 and very close to a quarter
- close enough to fit into the same coin roller as a US quarter
- close enough to work with the hopper

still jam up the elevators frequently.

For play at the casino I prefer slant tops, especially when it comes to video poker (I'm one of those "marathon poker" players!).  For home I'd love to have a slant top, but there's NO WAY I'm going to deal with how heavy they are and how bulky they are to move.  I think it'd have to be free (or darn close to it) for me to even consider getting one.  I've seen PE+ and S+ slants locally for $150 and I don't even give them a second look -- I won't deal with the weight/bulk.  :60-

Mark- for what it's worth, my PE+ bartop drop-in game has an escalator for the quarters -- I've never had a single problem with it.

The elevators from what I have seen are usually rock solid, but just try running some Pachi tokens through it..... or canadian quarters.....

Buzz has a lot of slant tops and he's never mentioned having any issues with the escalators. I've also played his machines and never had an issue while I was there on any machine. Just use the intended coin (quarters, dollar tokens, etc.) and forget the Pachislo tokens.

I still intend to get a slant top touch screen multi-game at some point. I like the comfort, and I like reaching into the "hole" to grab more money when I need it!  :71-

Jay  It's not the diameter of the coins your using that's the problem, it's the thickness. I try ed nickels in a quarter hopper and they jammed in the escalator real close to the top, that's the day I discovered a nickel is 4 to 6 thousand's of a inch thicker then a USA quarter. A quick and lazy fix on a Bally is to loosen the escalator screws and shim it so it's a little wider at the top. I used a office folder for a shim ( cover from a telephone book will also work ) IGT welded theirs together.

Do you like the sit down slant machines in general?

Mark     If I go to a casino and have a choice I will go to a Video Poker Slant Top every time. Here at the house the only machines I play is the one I'm working on. The fool that tells you that you can't have to many has never been to my house. Slant tops don't take up that much more room, same width as a upright stand and does take up about 10 inches out into the room, but most times your chair is closer to the machine when your playing it.

I have to agree with Buzz, that they do not take up that much more room, especially if you keep the chair tucked in, or stored elsewhere. I think that the true issue with them is the weight! Nothing that can't be solved with a few more laborers, errrr friends, and another case of beer!  :97- :97- :97-

I will say that I would take the minor extra space requirement any time as a trade for the comfort you get when playing!  :89- :71- :89-

Yes, there was a post here a long time ago where a guy said that he got a slant top poker for 50 dollars and was asking for help, He got it fixed with the help of the great people on this forum and also found 2 dollars in the cash can! He also lived in Nevada............damn, why can't I get deals like that where I live???. I would not expect to pay 50 but I think 3 to 500 dollars for a working slant top is fair.

Yes, I remember that one. He had it on the patio, and we teased him about his kid playing it!
