Title: Which Double Diamond Deluxe is this?
Post by: Yoeddy1 on October 07, 2009, 12:05:11 AM
Which version of Double Diamond Deluxe is this?  I'm checking into one in a nearby state, but am not sure what he has.  He claims that his is an S+.  Would an S+ be able to play, look and sound like this:

Looks like a S2000

VFD, short reel glass and printer should be a dead giveaway that it's an S2000, but if you can get it for the price of an S+, I would. And BTW, I want to play at the casino this machine came from, $5,000 jackpot for a 3 nickel bet.

What would be a fair price on a Double Diamond Deluxe in an S+ if it's in nice condition?

In other words, Eddy, it's got the wrong top glass -- it's using "high denomination" glass that has dollar awards on it rather than credit amounts.  You could use that as a bargaining chip in your favor.  I was also going to say, "if you can get it for the price of an S+ jump on it."

As far as a "fair" price, it depends on where you're located and the availibility of machines around you.  What price is he asking for it?  The one in the video you posted is absolutely a S-2000.

His starting at $700.00.  Here's a photo of it:

S+ not the S2000 in the above picture.....$450. to $1000 depending on condition, with or without bill validator. level of validator software (what bills will it accept), 25 cent machine worth more than dollar machines due to the cost of the coins or tokens, has it been shopped (cleaned, new bulbs, tested, complete ect.) Round top, chop top or 16 inch ? A lot playes into price and then you have reputation of the seller and shipping charges :25-

So the photo I posted above is an S2000 and NOT an S+?  It is a quarter machine with a bill validator.  Has the standard set of S+ sounds...whatever that means.

The Picture is S+.

If you ask me, that price is too high for an S+ machine.  I know multiple vendors here that would be glad to sell you a S2000 machine for that.  But it all depends on what's available in your area.  The price is not outrageous and if it is close by to pick-up and you can't find any other machines available...it might be a deal for you.  From what I can find on the net, looks like Idaho only allows machines that are pre-1950 - so it is probably hard to find any machines for sale.  But if it were me...I would pass...

As has been stated, the photo is an S+ and the video is an S2000. The video you posted does not have the "standard S+ sounds". The S2000 in the video is exhibiting standard S2000 sounds. An S+ does not have synthesized sound -- only tones.

Here is an example of how the S+ sounds.

I don't think that's StatFreak's machine or video.  It's the video I posted a while back (here (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=4021.msg33693#msg33693)) when Yoeddy first came to the forum posting about his S+ transaction that eventually fell through.  ...and it's not my machine or video, either -- just one I found on Youtube that was a good example of what the S+ looks and sounds like.  :71-

...and yes, Eddy, the first video you posted from Worldwide Gaming is an S-2000 machine with the wrong top glass.  The picture you later posted is an S+.  $700 is too much for an S+ nowadays.

Also, for what it's worth, the S+ picture you posted appears to have a red lower candle which means that it was a nickel machine in its previous life, or the candle from a nickel machine was put on it (usually the former, though).  That really doesn't make a difference as long as it has the correct coin entry and hopper, though.

Knagl is correct: that is not my machine or video. I don't have a video camera.  :8-  I don't even have any decent video editing software. (No kids to film, so it's always been a low priority.) If I had, I would have made a quick video of one of my own machines and popped it up on YouTube for that post instead of hunting for the only "generic" S+ video left on YouTube! Neonkiss has one that demonstrates the remote control that we were all into a while back, there is one instructional video by a seller, there are Joey's IGT tech videos, and that's it. Even Johnny G. has no videos of an S+ in play.

<ADD> Of course, there might be some that have no proper words to key on in a search or to tie them to related videos.  :47-

Wow (Mom upside down)

I just checked for fun and see that I have now posted 12 video clips on youtube.com.
They are all listed under my other name "stayouttadabunker2".... :96-

I should point out that the S+ on the picture posted seems to be reproduction glass, it looks to be 16" graphics squeezed to fit a 9" glass.

The dead givaway (not always) is the player tracking bar and the stereo speakers on the side of the bar on the S2000 And like was said here, they have advanced sound. S+'s have common tones that cannot play voices, music, etc. S+'s are being tossed out at the curb as the S2000's are taking over. I would pay between 3-500 dollars for an S+ depending on title and overall condition. If it is a "beater" and has a basic title (RWB for example), then I would pay like 300 dollars for it. :103-
