Title: Power missing from Netplex board. Wiring diagram for cabinet needed
Post by: MrBellMan on October 17, 2009, 04:22:56 PM
This morning when I turned on one of my I-Games, I noticed the games had no sound. So, I did some trouble shooting and also found that the blinking LEDs in my topper were not on either. Both the LEDs and the sound amp use the same power source from the Netplex board. That side uses the Red/Black Red wires for power. I was able to check continuity on the Black/Red wire down to the mother board, but the Red wire does not check out. On the plug that goes to the motherboard (J13/POWER), it actually has two red wires, but neither gives a positive continuity check. So, I'm wondering if in fact the wire is broke or maybe I am testing the wrong Red wire(s).  :103-

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rob

Rob, have these items worked before and then stopped working? I had a problem with power not getting to backlit reels and found that te red wire pin was not fully seated in the molex plug, I guess pulling them out and pushing them in had worked it loose. Something you might check.

Rob are you sure the connection is at J-13   and not J-2 ?

All three of my I-Games use J5 for the power. J2 is not used on any of my games.

The game was working fine last night. I'm not sure why it all of the sudden would not get power this morning...   :103-

Did you turn off the machine after playing it last night?
or was the power on all night?
Start jiggling connections and go buy a can of contact cleaner spray stuff...
sounds like some connector pins are getting oxidized.
The rapid cool down of the receptor plugs due to the cooler weather we're getting at night
( Is the machine in a cool environment like your garage?)
might be getting old...time to start buying and changing out receptor pins that are in them old molexes.
Remember, those receptor pins work by squeezing the pins...after a while...
like 20-30 years for many of our machines...
they don't squeeze as tight as when they were younger...
(Am I regretting phrasing this problem this way?... :96-)

So, I am missing the 13V input to the Netplex power distribution board. The two wires are red/black red. This is why my sound board and LED lights on the topper do not work. The 25V input works fine. If I am not mistaken, the 13V power comer from the J5 connector on the motherboard, but I am not positive. I have swapped motherboards and that did not help. I am still wanting to do a continuity check on the red wire, but I'm not sure where the source of the 13V is coming from. The I-Game manual only says that J5 is a DC power input...

I have checked all my connections. There is no corrosion and my game room is temperature controlled.

If someone knows where the 13V comes from please let me know. Part of the problem is that I don't want to remove all of the wire ties to try and trace one wire unless I have to.

Thanks,

Rob

Is there a fuse for the 13v somewhere?

The 13VDC might be actually coming from the 25VDC and regulated down to 13VDC
somehow before it hits the netplex board.
I cannot say for sure though because I'd need an I-Game power schematics to verify that.

I was able to trace the two wires that feed the 13v to the power supply itself. As a test I put another power supply from another game and the issue went away. So, the 13v section of the power supply has failed.  :8- :37- :8- :37-

Anyone have a working I-Game power supply for sale?  :5-

Thanks,

Rob

Oops... I just remembered that I-Games use the same power supply as the S2000...   :30- :30- :30-

I-Games....seems like a lot of stuff is the same as an S2000.
What does the "I" stand for..."interactive"?
