Title: Patent News
Post by: Op-Bell on October 24, 2009, 12:32:27 AM
A Federal appeals court in Washington DC yesterday confirmed a Nevada court's decision that IGT's Wheel of Fortune patent is invalid on the grounds that it's too obvious.

Bally Technologies Announces Favorable Federal Court Ruling in Bally iVIEW™, IGT Wheel Patent Infringement Litigation (http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/lvrj/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20091022006400&newsLang=en)

This decision removes a lot of IGT's sandbagging against Bally's anti-trust action.

The mysterious thing is how the patent got awarded in the first place, considering that wheel machines were the very first slot machines and were operating in saloons in Gold Rush days. A "person skilled in the art" might regard that as prior art.
