Title: If anybody is looking for a nice 32" LCD TV set...
Post by: rickhunter on October 27, 2009, 02:59:02 PM
There's a good price right now on a Panasonic Viera TC-L32X1, it is a very highly rated set and even has an IPS panel, which has richer colors than the cheaper TN panels found thoughout the 32" lcd's priced in this range.  It even comes with an Ipod Dock that can be used to view and listen to your ipod music and videos.  The only drawback it's that it's a 720p set, but at 32", the visual difference between it and a 1080p panel is not all that noticeable.

Price today is $389.00 and it ships free.  Tax if you live in California.

Newegg is a GREAT place to buy electronics! I have always been happy with them.
WAL*MART is going nuts on TV's these days. Bought this Vizio 55" 120hz 1080P
for the bedroom. As is get older I tend to need glasses, this way I can watch TV in bed without them.
No more trashed glasses in the morning :)

I was doing some research on it to see what reviews people gave it, and found it from Buy.com for $349.00 and free shipping:

http://www.buy.com/prod/panasonic-tc-l32x1-32-widescreen-720p-lcd-hdtv-12-000-1-contrast-ratio/q/loc/111/210808012.html (http://www.buy.com/prod/panasonic-tc-l32x1-32-widescreen-720p-lcd-hdtv-12-000-1-contrast-ratio/q/loc/111/210808012.html)

I am in the market for a nice flat panel TV, but I don't have nor plan to get an iPod, which looks to be one of the major selling points of this TV.

What the hell is all that wiring going to the bathroom?
You got some 220V 3 phase appliances in there?  :30-

Audio/Video from satellite RCVRS to a flat panel in the bathroom. I like to watch TV while in the jacuzzi tub or shower in the morning. Too lazy to drill holes. That closet right there has all the dat/phone/communication/alarm/camera racks in it :)

Hello all!

I will be buying a new LCD TV to replace my 35" Tube TV sometime between now and Christmas.  Looking for between 42" and 47" and hoping to spend in the $600-$1000ish range.  Anyone want to suggest any?  Is there a better time I should wait for (i.e. Black Friday, right before Xmas, right after Xmas, etc...)?  From what I can tell I want a 1080p, at least 120Hz LCD - sound right??

(just curious..I have ALL of the above!)

First thing I learned is that if you post a pic here, it will be gone over with maginifers, crime scene software and anything else you can think of...happended to me with one of my first posts  :72-

Hey.
Have you guys tried plugging a computer on these LCD's?
The big 42"'s and 32"'s? Does it look like on your regular
desktop computer screen or does it look like a comic book?

YES!
I use the 55" Vizio in the bedroom to watch Hulu.com online and it looks fine. This is with a netbook. it depends on the video card (Controller) in the PC,but if you set the computer to the MAX the LCD can handle it will look nice.

You can probably find something in the 40" range at your traget price during Black Friday deals.  Of course you are going to have to get up early and all, it all depends on how badly you want your target price.

Here's are some westinghouse 42" 1080p refurbished model for $450+ range plus shipping (for my zip code it was $49.00).

http://www.ecost.com/Category.aspx?CatCode=EQDC (http://www.ecost.com/Category.aspx?CatCode=EQDC)

I've had good luck with Westinghouse Refurbs.  I bought a 32 inch set about 2 years ago that is used daily as an Xbox360/HTPC monitor and so far so good.

I want to thank everyone for the suggestions so far - but we are getting away from my original request.  I'm not looking for the cheapest deal out there...

SO, I want a 42" to 47" in the $600-$1000ish range - what model would YOU buy or suggest??  Please only suggest models that you have experience with - ie have seen or own/etc...I'm looking for opinions - not just prices...

Thanks!

The NLG site up on the 55" Vizio.....

Kirk,

You are truly my good buddy since I am discovering that I am not the only one who has done this!!! :131- :3- :131- BUT, I have not brought video to the Master Bath! YET?? BUT, I do have the Zone two stero speakers hooked up in there to listen to the news when showering!  :89-

Here is my picture of your picture of NLG on your big screen on my Panasonic 50" Plasma 1080 HD TV on a pan tilt swivel mount. :5- :5- :5- I too will catch up on missed TV shows from the internet on occassion, and I got a video card that is HDMI out, so the connection is simple and great!! I then went one step further and got a RF wireless keyboard and mouse that are hooked up at the same time as the main KB and mouse on the computer on other side of the bedroom! With alot of stuff to do with the site, and tons of great posts, it is awesome to make myself comfortable on the couch and read away!

First question: How do you plan to control it?  :103- Long keyboard and mouse cables from one room to the other? :208-

On the serious side, you can go wired up to about 50 feet, depending on the level of HDMI you're sending. After that, you'll need a repeater or an extender like this:

Thanks for the link brichter!
I think for the price you can get computers nowadays,
I'll just buy another computer,
hook it up to the big LCD screen and
get a wireless keyboard & mouse for it! :71-
That will be pretty close to pulling the handle on my lazy-boy chair. :89-

( I don't like the way I phrased that last sentence.... :96-)
