Title: I need a reset key
Post by: royburduck on October 29, 2009, 08:02:00 PM
My husband bought a IGT Bonus Video poker machine but it didn't come with an keys. I just found the reset button the inside. Also, when we moved the machine to our gameroom, it had coin init. I know, stupid should have removed the coins first. I have no idea how to remove the hopper. I can see the handle but not sure what to push, presh, etc to get it to release. We have alot of nickels that have fallen behind it so I want to get them out. After reading some of the posts, I'm worried about it hitting the royal if I don't have a key. We've had this for close to 5 months and no royal yet. Only 1 straight flush. Tons of 4 of a kinds. If anyone knows how I can get the key please let me know.

Should pull straight out by grabbing the D handle on the front.
Be sure to dig out all those loose coins. They can cause a short on electrical components. :98- :98-

Welcome to  :nlg- If you would send me a private message with your address I will send you a key. IF you hit the Royal before you get the key post here and someone will help you clear the machine. When you pull the hopper out, it's going to be heavy with all those coins in it,( hard on the toes )

Turn the power off first, but yes, as Neonkiss said just pull firmly straight out on the silver metal handle on the hopper that is facing you when you open the door.  You want to make sure that there are not ANY loose coins in there, or in the power supply (unplug the machine first before probing around in there).

As far as getting a key, they're easy to come by -- just post in the classifieds section that you're looking for a jackpot reset key for your IGT PE+ video poker and one of the vendors should be able to get you one, cheap.  In an emergency, you could disconnect the keyswitch and touch the leads together to simulate turning the key.

When you put the hopper back in, make sure the bottom of it is lined up correctly in the track, and then firmly press it back into its connector (don't slam it, just use good pressure to make sure it's seated correctly).

You guys are AWESOME!! I got all the coins out. good thing I'm the pc geek with small hands that can get into the back of that machine. :5- I can't believe it took me this long to get curious about our machine. Just saw the button and started pressing. Once I get a key I want to change our screen and try the progressive setting. I appreciate the help on locating a key Buzz. I'm glad I found your forum and will definitly be bookmarking it. She is a greedy machine at times just like playing in vegas or cripple creek only difference is I get to keep my money  :97-

Hi Tressie and welcome to NLG :88-

I analyzed your game (Double Bonus 7/5/4), and it pays back 93.10%/91.89% (max bet/one coin) with best play. That's why it gets so greedy. :79-
Full pay would be Double Bonus 10/7 (implies 10/7/5) which would pay 100.97%/99.10%

The best part of having these machines at home is being able to get your money back after you lose it!  Welcome to the hobby addiction. :97- :97- :97-

I showed my husband the button last night on the machine. When we went through the colors he wanted me to keep it on the blue. I told not until the key gets here. i know it's low voltage, but I don't want to muck the machine if you know what I mean.

Statfreak it's nice to know that. We always play max bet (set for 5 coins). My husband (Jim) wants to change it to quarters. I don't know who he thinks is going into the bank to get those quarters, I did the nickels it's his turn :208-

Quite the addiction. I met my husband for the 1st time in Cripple Creek. He let me play on his credits and showed me how to play video poker. BIG MISTAKE  :97-

Since he is a used car dealer (video poker is his hobby and gambling is what he does with cars so . . .) we get to go to vegas on a regular basis. they have several auto auctions there. Can you say write-off? Just a warning it's been very tight out there. He mentioned the machines sound different then they did a few months back. The tone isn't quite right. Anyone know what that is about? Not to mention they don't pay out like they did a year ago.

Tres   Do you think Jim won or lost on that trip ?? :79-

I got a question for the site Can't this machine be easily changed to a 5 game machine with a super board and the right game chips ??   :99- :99-

Just a warning it's been very tight [in Las Vegas]. He mentioned the machines sound different then they did a few months back. The tone isn't quite right. Anyone know what that is about? Not to mention they don't pay out like they did a year ago.

Tressie-

My personal preference is a black background, but many people leave it on blue, too.

You can change the machine to quarters, but that would require a new coin entry, an adjustment to the optics to make sure that the quarters line up correctly with it, and intallation of a new hopper shelf wheel.  It's probably more trouble than its worth, unless he really, really wants it to be quarters.

As far as Vegas machines being "tighter" and "not sounding the same"...  I'm sure slots have been tightened, and it's tougher to find good video poker paytables, but it's not possible to "tighten" video poker in so far as what cards are or aren't dealt.  In Nevada (as well as other regulated jurisdictions), video poker must be a truly random outcome, just as if an actual deck of cards was being used.  The only way a casino can "tighten" or "loosen" a video poker game is to change the paytable (ie. a full house paying 40 coins versus 45).

Yes, absolutely.  The glass on her machine wouldn't match, but yes that can be done.  It's entirely possible that she already has a superboard in there, but given the age of the machine (no embedded BV) it's doubtful.

Buzz when I 1st met him- no doubt a winner, plus I was too scared to play on his $$.  But really I think I'm the winner of that deal.
We always do better in Virgin River on the way out if we drove. Problem is we need to stay down in oldtown, the strip isn't paying very well.  I like to play at Harrahs and Cesaers. I only play the single action if the progressive is high(true sign of being in Vegas WAY too much) otherwise we both play double double triple play or double triple triple play.

Here's the bad part about living in CO we can get direct flights to Vegas for usually $59 each way. Way too tempting sometimes. :25-

I'd rather leave it on nickels. Too much work to change it. Besides it plays and pays the same amount of credits and I get my "fix"

On the sound, he says it's like the machine is dying. Before it was an exciting sound, upbeat.  Now it's a depressing sound, probably because the casino lost $$.

He was excited to think it can do double down. I'm not. I'm hiding key  :72- so he can't change it.

I think I'll test the colors to see which one is most soothing to the eyes. Black most likely. Since we get those latenight tournaments going. Hard to do with 1 machine but we take turns. Whoever falls asleep 1st loses.

Hello all!

Just a tip - when I used quarters (I have my machines to ticket out only now) in my machines - the eaisest place to get a lot of quarters was at the laundry mat.

I didn't think of the laundrymat. Good idea. They looked at me like I was nuts at the bank when I asked for $40 in nickels. I told the teller we were getting ready for a  huge family reunion fight and needed the rolled nickels since they were easier to hold in the hand while fighting.

I also wanted to add he said the changes in the sound are happening to all Harrahs owned casino's. Guess he looked into that theory when he was in KC earlier this week. He was selling trucks at the auction but stays at the casino. I didn't think they could tighten video poker, but he's the sceptic.

Agreed. Go to a branch that has a lot of local merchant business accounts. The clue will be that they have a separate line with one or two windows exclusively dedicated to merchant transactions. Stand in line with the merchants if you need more than $100 in quarters. I can walk into my local branch and ask for $2000 in quarters without even witnessing a raised eyebrow. As Buzz said, quarters come in boxes of $500. Nickels come in boxes of $100.
