Title: S2000 eprom error -0x4??? Post by: rotornaut on November 02, 2009, 05:17:35 PM I have bunch of s2000's and never have seen this error. epprom device error -0x4...???
What does this mean? The machine suddenly went into a ram error and could not be cleared (I think that the BV bezel wires shorted out and fried game). After fixing all issues changing power supplies and tearing down the game to nothing we are left with this: eprom device error 0x4. I have replaced all chips on the motherboard including processor and media card. I have even tried a completely new board all togethere. Nothing seems to work, tried ram clears and key chips. Any help will be very much appreciated. Title: Re: S2000 eprom error -0x4??? Post by: Tilt on November 02, 2009, 06:02:37 PM Have you tried replacing the motherboard (backplane) that the MPU board plugs into? There's a 24C16 serial eeprom that holds certain game data on it that may have gone bad. Does the error message say EPROM or EEPROM?

There's no such thing as an ep prom.... anyways, it sounds like a folded under eprom or eeprom leg... you can't see it from above...leg may be bent underneath in the sockets. a "device" is an eprom or eeprom. I have no clue what "-0x4" means...the missing 4th leg of an eprom? Title: Re: S2000 eprom error -0x4??? It turns out that the short caused by the BV Bezel burned up the E-Squared chip on the back plane. Replaced and is as good as new. Thanks for all your input.

Post by: rotornaut on November 04, 2009, 06:35:34 PM So this was on an s2000 slant and the bv door was slammed shut by someone who didn't care about what could happen to the game and the bezel wires were found smashed in between the door and frame. I am not entirely sure if this was the cause for theheadache or not but it was not good. Pays to hire qualified help.

It's amazing how the mouth of the DBV likes to act like a knife on hanging wires. The wires need to be better tucked up inside there using the stick ums and plastic ties. The adhesive sometimes doesn't work too well... other times you can't get the stuff off !!! :96- Personally, I think the wiring harnesses to the DBV's are terrible. Especially on the right side of the DBV right next to the door latch. I'm sure they've come up with better routing for the harnesses on the newer machines by now. Title: Re: S2000 eprom error -0x4??? Which pin or pins should I bend to make my machine display the error code you're talking about? I'd like to try it to see if the error code comes up... Did you take note of which certain bent pins do this? |
