Title: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: tjkeller on October 05, 2008, 01:43:07 PM OK, so I have used Internet Explorer as my Web Browser for the last umteen years.
A couple weeks ago I switched to Firefox and am undecided as to which I like better. I did use Netscape for a very brief period shortly after the internet became realistically available. At that time I preferred IE and haven't tried any others till now. So What do YOU think? What are the Pros & Cons?...Why do you like the one you use? Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: Joeylc on October 05, 2008, 02:54:43 PM Well :97- :97- :97- it says it on the bottom of every page :30-
NewLifeGames.net Web-Site is optimized for Best use with Fire-Fox and a minimum screen resolution of 1152x864 pixels. Internet Explorer Sucks, Yeah, I said it. Reasons IE cannot process php worth a shit !!!! (and all of NLG is based on PHP and Mysql) In the past I wasted many hours of my life trying to debug why IE did not want to play well with php as coded :37- :37- :37- Found out that if I wanted IE to work right I would have to edit every php-page on the site and add lots of BS coding.. :60- :60- :60- So Im sorry to say if you are using IE you are not seeing or getting the most out of NLG :81- We do not and will not support IE :81- (http://iesucks.net/images/just_say_no.jpg) (http://iesucks.net/images/get_firefox.gif) Its Just Better! To Get Fire-Fox Click here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/) Just my 2 cents :61- Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: rickhunter on October 08, 2008, 03:08:53 PM Mac users would argue Safari, it needs to be in the poll. Other uses will argue Opera.
Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: asgard on October 08, 2008, 08:19:09 PM I've been using Firefox since it was released a couple years ago, IE is crap I'm looking forward to using Google Chrome when it becomes a little bit more stable.

You haven't steered me wrong yet. Thanks, Wayne :61- Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: bobn on October 15, 2008, 02:22:26 AM I prefer to use Firefox over IE. When they came out with the version that allowed tabbed browsing I was hooked.
Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: anjhurin on October 19, 2008, 01:23:45 AM I use Firefox because it is not a Microsloth product! Loved it ever since the beta was released way back when.
Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: Forrhouse on October 19, 2008, 07:02:57 AM Definitely, Mozilla's FireFox. It is Based on the gecko engine as is the Opera web browser. It adheres to the most W3C standards. The W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium, the group that sets the standards for the internet. These standards try to make the web compatible for all users, with disabilities or not, and they also set the standards so that in a perfect world, all web pages will display the same no matter what web browser you are using. For this to work, a web designer must keep up with these ever changing standards and implement them in their web page designs.
Most importantly, the makers of each browser must follow these standards as well. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer is the least compatible with these standards. Microsoft is getting better, but they make a web designer's life a living hell. Mozilla's FireFox adheres to the most standards and others are starting to follow. Just a note, but not adhering to the W3C's standards can cause pages to render in-accurately and or do some pretty funny things. The moral of the Story is, Use FireFox, it is reliable, web friendly and an all around more secure browser. Hope this helps, Eric For a little more on the W3C you can visit them here: http://www.w3.org/ Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: tjkeller on March 01, 2009, 04:38:49 PM OK, So to REVIVE an Old Post....
The original Poll shows Members prefer FireFox yet the overwhelming majority of Members still seem to be using IE. The curious thing though is it would appear FEW Members...if Any are using Chrome. I suspect by now this one may worth a look??? :79- :79- :79- Download Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome/?brand=CHMZ&utm_source=en-et-yt-ftr&utm_medium=et&utm_campaign=en) Takers?.... Comments?.... Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: jdkmunch on March 01, 2009, 05:11:53 PM Firefox on winblows and I use Safari on the Mac. I am curious about how many members use an antivirus product. I would bet that most firefox users don't use an antivirus.
Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: dpalmi on March 01, 2009, 05:32:37 PM I use Antivirus and would HIGHLY recommend everyone use some kind - there are other ways to get viruses besides browsing the web....

Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: brichter on March 01, 2009, 05:43:04 PM OK, So to REVIVE an Old Post.... The original Poll shows Members prefer FireFox yet the overwhelming majority of Members still seem to be using IE. I can tell Firefox to change the information you see, using an add-on called User Agent Switcher. It allows me to identify my browser and OS as whatever I want it to. I do use IE, however, many of the applications I use for work are IE specific, and won't run on anything else. Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: StatFreak on March 02, 2009, 04:28:41 AM I've been using Firefox almost exclusively, but still bring up the site in IE when I want to save a page. Firefox doesn't use Microcrap's proprietary MHTML complete web page files. I prefer saving web pages that way because I am guaranteed to have all of the images intact down the road, and don't have to manage silly tag-along folders.
Firefox is much better behaved in general. I tried Safari and didn't like the interface. Never go online without AV and a hardware firewall. I also have locked my firewall down to disallow almost all outgoing access, not just incoming. This saved my butt the one time I did get infected, because the Trojan couldn't access the hacker's server from my machine, although I found page after page of attempts in my log file after eliminating the virus. Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: frozenlime on March 19, 2009, 01:11:25 PM WoW, I can't understand how so many people proactively prefer IE :o Just cause you didn't try something else?
IE is making a hell for people who code with correct semantic/validated code. I use like 10-20% of the time making code only to fix bugs in IE only. Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: jdkmunch on March 19, 2009, 01:43:17 PM What is the breakdown for NLG? Joey should be able to tell us what percentage of people use IE vs Firefox.
Title: Re: Which is the best Web Browser? Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 19, 2009, 01:54:39 PM I was using IE for about 15 years, switched to Mozilla Firefox last year....love it
