Title: Bally Model 984 help
Post by: 89chevyman on November 10, 2009, 02:57:54 AM
Can anyone tell me about a Bally 984 4 fruit reel progressive 1973 Big Shot Continental slot machine? Does anyone have parts and/or a reel glass replacement?  Don't know much about EMs, just gathering info. Thanks for any and all help. Picture is a stock photo, not my machine..........unfortunately :37-

seems to be the 2nd posting for this model - the other was looking for the top glass.  the older machines such as this - the payout glass is the hardest to find - the reel glass I may have.  the mechanical parts are mostly available.  If the machine is only missing the reel glass - and is otherwise complete - cheap enough as a starter/project.

I decided to take the plunge and get that Bally EM.  I guess, if anything, it'll be a GREAT door stop. Could you let me know if you have the glass for it & a picture if possible? Thanks.

I will be posting a "before" picture shortly. I did have additional questions on this machine. It has the Bally tag on it stating the ser. # and model as being CRS29 then there is another tag that is an IGT w/ model 984, did IGT have something to do w/Bally or vise versa? Both tags are riveted onto the cabinet.

I had read somewhere that IGT used to buy up used slots, refurbish them
and then resell them.  They would stake there badge right next to the Bally
one.  I'm sure someone here prolly remembers better details than I recall.

Thanks to everyone on getting me some 411 on this machine. I am now in possession of a Bally Big Shot EM :3- I have taken a few pics to try and obtain even more information.

Here are a few more pics. I stand corrected on the amount of reels, it only has 4. :25- I might have a better chance of getting the correct reel glass, now that I've learned to count. :5- "I guess in all the excitement, I forgot if it had 4reels or 5, question is, am I lucky? Well am I?"  Anyone have a manual for these machines? I thought I saw a post when I was poking around for information. Thanks.

Here's the best manual for EMs (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0934422052?ie=UTF8&seller=A3DAHIR0FKS8P0&sn=Mead%20Publishing%20Company) - it includes some Continental info.

Well, there IS another one out there :3- :3- :3- Here I thought I was all alone with my 984. What have you done to it so far and does it work? It took me a long search to find the replacement glass for the reel and belly. It also took some coin to get it. The bummer was the guy was going to sell me the whole machine for the same price I paid for the glass :25- :25- :25- :25- :25- Unfortunately the shipping from Reno to here would have been even more of an expense, so I settled  for the glass. Its been a few years and I still haven't installed it or cleaned the machine to shopped condition. It does work and pay out, but I can't get the progressive to work :103- :103- The top box needs some bulbs replaced and probably some re-wiring to get it to function.  I'll send you some pics of what mine looks like and where I'm at so far with it. If you have any info on theses games/machines I could use some help. I still haven't figured out what I need to take off the door to get to the belly glass.

Chris

Should be 2 phillips screws on the inside of your door holding the belly glass assembly in place.
Make sure you have your hand on the outside of the glass when you remove the last screw, sometimes the assembly falls out and you DON'T want to break your glass....
Nice looking game.
