Title: Fortune I Post by: white47 on November 11, 2009, 12:58:08 AM Bought a Fortune I Poker machine off craigslist, powers up but just lines on the screen. I also have no key, just wanted to check with the experts before drilling out the lock if there is a better way to get the machine open. Once open, where is a good starting point to begin troubleshooting.
Thanks Ron Title: Re: Fortune I Post by: Belbtech on November 11, 2009, 05:42:59 AM You might try;

I have broken too many drill bits and dulled the same. Some locks have hardened pins placed in the area's you would think it is the easiest to drill.
the easiest way to cut one off: use a single hacksaw blade, hold it with your hand, and just make a 1/16 starter grove on the top side of the outer ring, then place a few strips of duct tape around the lock area, ( this is to minimize the scratching effect on the chrome) then using a sawsall with a hacksaw blade cut thru the lock, push the housing thru the hole and move the lock bar with your finger and open the machine, sounds like alot of work, but should only take five minutes provided you have the tools. Good luck, hope this helps Jim Title: Re: Fortune I Post by: reho33 on November 11, 2009, 12:59:30 PM It might be more expensive but a locksmith might get it open, take the lock, and make a proper key for you. It will not be cheap but the machine won't be ruined either. Just a thought.
Title: Re: Fortune I Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 11, 2009, 02:47:21 PM I have used a plain high-speed router with a metal cutting bit...
I adjusted the bit so that the router sat on some blue painters tape placed around the lock and just trimmed 1/16" off the top of the lock... All the guts of the lock was simply pushed right through to the inside of the machine and the door opened! Title: Re: Fortune I Post by: cp on November 11, 2009, 04:43:34 PM Another idea on opening locked doors...get a pair of Vise Grips. I you can get a "grip" on the outside/extended lock barrel, give it a good turn back / forth. Sometimes this creates a little movement of the inner cam .... enough to allow entry.
