Title: IGT "Twin Thunder"......
Post by: KirkLasVegas on November 12, 2009, 02:08:31 PM
Comes home today. I forgot to take pictures of this WEIRD beast, but it has a Pyramid shaped candle (it's coming from the "Luxor" here in Vegas.
Bizzare machine, has 5 reels, eats six nickels at a time. Running a 16Mhz board it's kinda slow to respond. It's in good shape...BLUE cabinet, red and blue reels.
It has two progressive meters in the top box. This will be a good study project on progressive controllers. They do light up, the top one shows a $ sign, sometimes shows a C1 while the lower one shows a 0.00 on it. All the progressive crap is in there "Mikon" as well as the player tracking controller too.
This is my *FIRST* machine with a progressive meter, i know NOTHING about them,so this will be a learning experiance.

Pictures to follow.......

Kirk,
There's another fella here trying to hook up his double progressives.
It would be fantastic if you can post high res pictures of how
it might be hooked up so we can figure out how to make it work.
The "weird"  Luxor machine you're getting...will it be a IGT S2000 by any chance?

It's a S+, weird huh? Was pretty advanced for it's time.Has a standard 16 Mhz board in it....
I will post pictures of the controller(s) both appear to be identical as well as the displays. Same boards, but differant sized LED's. The top display is a lot bigger than the bottom.

pretty cool !!!...It's gonna be nice to see how that's hooked up... :89-
The "other guy" is "Stormrider"...
but I think he's trying to hook up dbl. progressives to a Bally 6000.

Is now home....
Pictures after some Windex and a rag. machine is NOT yet shopped out. Was purchased "Parts Complete" and running.
It needed the DBV145 tossed in the garbage and a DBV200 in it's place.Front bill validator bezel was missing.
CC-16D is in it, takes nickels, bills and the hopper has a nickel wheel in it (works). it runs! now to clean it up and possibly
make the "Progressive Display" do something

Side view......

Built this for a neighbor....a Wild Cherry. Seems her 84 year old mom recently died. When they would bring her to Las Vegas she would make a beeline past ALL the new machines for a Wild Cherry. This was her favorite machine.
In her honor I built this for the couple, so mom can be at home playing the machine...forever
I installed the Wild Cherry 5 coin glass the reel strips (new) and made it a 25 cent machine. Also purloined the correct bellyglass. It's in a VERY nice looking "Woodgrain" formica cabinet.
I'm tempted to put a random timer in it..so it plays itself from time to time....

That's the first time I've ever seen a 5 reel S+...
I knew they were capable of handling it because of the 5 resistors on the 10 and 16 MHz boards.
You're the first I ever seen actually get a 5 reel kit! Congratulations...!!!
The Bible only goes up to 4 reels...if you could get the chip numbers and more info out of it...
you would be the first the enter a 5 reel game in the NLG Bible!

That's the same game I played at the Colorado Belle about three years ago. It too was a nickle machine with the two progressives. Long gone now.
Nice find Kirk!  :3-

Check out the "Luxor" candle on top of the machine.......collectable? or just weird....
A little of both.......

Kirk

Cool stuff, Kirk.  Be careful with those chips, esepcially with the labels facing opposite direction (easy to put one in backwards and fry it).  Get those babies read into your computer so you have a backup -- I imagine they'd be very hard to find.

Nice machine -- thanks for posting the pictures!

You guys see the award payout scheme on that thing? It's cool!
Red side and Blue side...with 5 reels...LOL
Statfreak'll never figure it out! :72-

Actually it's pretty easy. The winning combinations map just has 5 reel information.  It's like a cherry that pays anywhere, there are winning combos that pay if reels 3 4 and 5 line up and 1 and 2 don't matter.

Something tells me that game chip might not have a factory label on it. :208- :208-

Kirk-

Too funny hitting that progressive jackpot on the Twin Thunder.  Nice hit on Jackpot Party, too.  Very nice looking Bluebird you have there!

Kirk,
I am  very impressed with your assortment of machines besides hitting a couple good hits while do the video .

my game room looked like that for many years with machines
in every corner of the room -walls walls were decorated with original casino neon lighted boxes saying
for example :  5c area   - to $1.00 area etc etc . along with rope lights along the top of ceilings in several chase modes .
along with casino pictures fliers on certain walls clocks --name of my own casino in large metal plates that light up under black light

I had a darker atom asphere in my game room etc . somewhere i still have assorted pics of the old game room ..
I was SINGLE then except for my three dogs ..lol
so with having the the long term significant other relationship I have with her . which is 15 + yrs with same girl & ten years engaged  :131- :131- :131- :131-
no hurry to get married right ??  :30- :30- :30- :30- :103- :103- :103-

I had a sitdown  :25- :25- :25- with the love of my life approx -2 yrs ago .. her greatest complaint was my game room in the large family room I have !!

so i moved it to another level of my house that was not being used at all and set it up again .

now the question is from man to man  is >>>my guess <<is you have to be single ?? or you have a other half more understanding than mine lol
I do have 3 slants & the multicade with one bar top game left in my old family room .. just so Idont have withdrawls when the need to drop a coin
or play the multicade  :72- :72- :72-

now the kicker is I am still single & she got what she wanted ??  :103- :103- :103- :103-

My wife and I have an agreement. If I dont disappear on the harley(Picking up babes along the way) I can have machines in the house. Restricted to the first floor gameroom ONLY. No machines on second or third floor...

It's a deal! besides..she does play them along with the Wii...

AHHH we have a something in common .. the basic same rules on this end  :72- :72- :72-

dont take out the hot -rods and say your going to a meet with the guys and end up in some GIN MILL
working on the help or patrons ...

the older WE get the more we learn   --I always told her it does not matter where I go to get hungry
as long as I come home to eat !! -- she semi agrees on that !! :103- :103- :103- :103-

Wow! I knew exactly what your machine was as soon as I read the topic on the portal page, and after quickly glancing over all two pages of posts, I don't believe that anyone else has pointed it out yet.

That machine is a reproduction (rip-off :129-) of a Bally EM called Twin Lightning, model 949 (1972), which was the second incarnation of the Bally Lucky Twins, model 937 (1972).

They:
1. Changed the orange side to red and the green side to blue.
2. Changed the payouts
3. Added the 1 Bar payout (original paid either mixed bars or 5-Bars only with straight 1B's paying the same as mixed)
4. Replaced the red 7s with the oval jackpot symbol
5. Added the progressives.

Original paid
20/40/60 for three mixed or single bars on either color
100/200/300 for three 5-bars on either color
500/1000/1500 for three 7s on the orange and 500/1000/3000 for three 7s on the green.

There was no super bonus for getting six of any symbol other than winning the prize on both sides (only 4500 for six red 7s  :8-)

It's a unique concept, especially using the "Orange and the Green" (think Irish and religion  :79-). It was one of the machines on my EM wish list years ago.

Thanks for posting the pictures. We now have proof of an S+ 5-reel game!!  :71-  :3- :3-

Actually, Op-Bell beat you to it by a few hours (in a thread in the S+ category, which lead to this thread being resurrected):

There was at least one 5 reel S+. It was a knock-off of a Bally EM game that played as two machines in one and paid off on both the left three reels and the right three (the middle one was shared). I have a pic somewhere, I'll post it if I can did it up.

And the Bally EM they knocked off was the 1972 model 949 "Twin Lightning". Ooops, Statfreak already pointed that out. God forbid that IGT should ever have an original idea. They couldn't even come up with an original name.
