Title: Topper Help (WMS???) Post by: xkey on November 14, 2009, 04:34:04 PM I picked up a couple of toppers about a year ago and need some help with them please. I think the first one is a WMS not sure though. I would like to attach it to eith a Bally or IGT S+, or just be able to connect it to a wall outlet and hang it on the wall. I have attached a few pictures. Thanks.

Pull out the pins from the molex, splice them (The green, orange, and black with white stripe) to the new power supply, plug it the wall and you oughta be good to go! At least for the fluorescent light... The other topper lights run on something else... Those are using the other wires (Red w/white strip, and I can't see the other one) The "fan" topper lights are going into the white panel behind the fluorescent round bulb... I'll betcha there's a board behind it! There will be a chip on it that controls the way the "fan" flashes... Title: Re: Topper Help (WMS???) Post by: xkey on November 14, 2009, 05:15:30 PM Mark,
Thanks for the info, is this what you are referring to? http://www.powersupplydepot.com/productview.asp?product=15162+TR (http://www.powersupplydepot.com/productview.asp?product=15162+TR) by the way this is a WoF topper jon Title: Re: Topper Help (WMS???) Title: Re: Topper Help (WMS???) Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 14, 2009, 06:04:44 PM No! That's like a benchtop variable DC output transformer...
You need something cheaper like the one you can get at places like Radio Shack or maybe Lowes or Home Depot perhaps. See that big chip in the middle of the board... that's the brains behind the way the topper flashes. Is there anything written on the board anywhere that might give you a clue to what power is needed? Maybe some tag perhaps on a wire going to that board maybe? In the picture below, I circled the red and black w/red striped wire that go into the board that controls the fan lights. These need to be identified as to what kind of power goes through them to power up the board. The other bunch of mainly yellow wires...ignore those, they come from the main board to power up and control the board underneath. Does anyoe have a wiring schematics for this topper? Title: Re: Topper Help (WMS???) Post by: Foster on November 14, 2009, 10:52:29 PM Like railroad94 stated
red +13V Orange +25V Also Black with orange stripe 25V ground Black with red stripe 13V ground There is a green wire that is chassis ground, be sure to connect it as well. It is usually conencts to the ground on the electronic ballast. Title: Re: Topper Help (WMS???) Post by: knagl on November 15, 2009, 05:09:26 PM Agreed with Railroad and Foster. Looks like a standard IGT topper and its wiring (IGT made the Wheel of Fortune games). Make sure that the 25v is DC (not AC!) (the 13v too!). 25vdc wall warts are difficult (but not impossible) to find. 24vdc (and 12vdc or less for the red wires) is perfectly fine to use.
Edited to add: A couple of wiring options were previously discussed here (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=94.msg404#msg404) which may help you. Title: Re: Topper Help (WMS???) Post by: icu44444 on November 30, 2009, 07:33:40 AM best place to buy ac or dc wall adapter transformers is salvation army and good will type places. mostly around $1.00 to $2.00. the shack has them but they are pricey. depending on voltage they run from 5.99 upto over 30.00 for a 24 volt transformer.
