Title: Check for Loose Tokens!!!!
Post by: reho33 on December 01, 2009, 12:51:51 AM
I had a problem where I moved my S2000 and it would not power up. I forgot that I had coins in the hopper and they went all over. I called Bettor Slots (where I got my machine) and Jim and I checked for about 20 minutes when I found 2 errant tokens wedged between the motherboard backplane and ground. Once I knocked them out, the game played again. Moral of the story is:

1) Take ALL parts out before you move a machine as things will work loose and may short.
2) Don't mess with anything unless you positively know what you are doing.
3) If you don't know DON'T GUESS!!! Just ask for help like I did. You might just save your machine from becoming an expensive door stop.

Thanks to Jim and Bettor Slots for making me check and finding the tokens. K+

One guy laid his machine down in his van and got it home only to find the machine was acting strange...
When he opened it up, there were coins like...everywhere!
An S+ has a 1/4" slot about 3 inches long on the wall side on top of the power supply box...if coins ever fall into that...look out!
IGT made plastic covers to fit over the top of the motherboards to help prevent shorts from loose coins.
They also put a 1/4" thick piece of foam UNDER it to do the same job.
The stupidest electrical design I've ever seen though, has to be the power wire going over the top of the little power switch box.
The only protection is a plastic wire wrap. :25-
It would have been much better to have an exit hole coming out of the rear of that box
protected with a heavier plastic strain relief cord retainer plug.
I guess it was out of the budget for the original design. :30-

I have found a lot of money behind the power supplies on the splus upright machines when I am parting them out.
