Title: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: waynelk on December 15, 2009, 02:33:26 PM Any one know the differences between coin comparitors other than 12 volt (Green to coil, green Led) and 24 volt (Gray to coil, red Led). I have a CC-16-D 24 volt in my S+. I also have a CC-40 24 volt someone sent by mistake. Is it usable? Is the coil usable? I see 16-E, 62-D, 30,33, 40, etc. What I'm wondering is are they different or just different voltage. Is a comparitor, a comparitor? All they do is measure coin size and density right?
Thanks Wayne Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: reho33 on December 15, 2009, 03:12:45 PM This information was sent to me by Stout:

Post by: waynelk on December 15, 2009, 06:08:34 PM OK. Now I would guess CC-16_D is for 5 to 25 cent and CC-!6-E is for 50 cent. Next question is what the difference is between INHIBIT and NON-INHIBIT. Thanks for the info on the different coin comparitors. That helps some. Don't see the CC-40 in the list, only MC-40.
Wayne http://www.happcontrols.com/gaming/coin_comp/cc-40_exploded.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/gaming/coin_comp/cc-40_exploded.htm) Here is a link to Happ for an exploded view of the inside of the CC-40 Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: stayouttadabunker on December 15, 2009, 06:15:26 PM The only way to know for sure is to remove the four screws on the cover and
peek at the number inside on the board. The CC-16-D 24 volt is the only coin comparitor you should use for an S+. If you stick a 12V CC in there, smoke will escape! :98- I don't know if a CC40 24V will work or not. I wouldn't try it though until you can find out more about it. Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: waynelk on December 15, 2009, 06:20:58 PM You always have the answers Bunker. Nothing funny today? Here is a Happ link that explains what each comparitor is for. P.S. How much smoke would come out? Does it still work once you let the smoke out?
http://www.happcontrols.com/gaming/coin_comp/accessories.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/gaming/coin_comp/accessories.htm) Thanks Wayne Looks like CC-40 is High descrimination, high security with 2 optics. Should work though as long as it's 24 volt. Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: stayouttadabunker on December 15, 2009, 06:23:07 PM Only if you can put the smoke back in... :96- :72-
Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: waynelk on December 15, 2009, 06:29:16 PM I'm usually good at letting the smoke out. Never knew you could put it back in? Maybe if I suck it up with a straw.
Thanks Wayne Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: reho33 on December 15, 2009, 06:32:03 PM Just put an imonex in there and fugetaboutit!
Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: stayouttadabunker on December 15, 2009, 06:44:18 PM I didn't know that reho...good tip! :89-
You've tried it...which model works and how is it done? :128- Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: waynelk on December 15, 2009, 06:50:52 PM The Imonex looks kind of big for the IGT S+. And it's a rolldown coin Mech used in Bally Machines. May work in my Williams pinball. Oh yea they are mechanical coin mechs that never have any problem. Now I'm remembering I put swear chips in and they only work on Free Play.
Title: Re: Coin Comparitor differences? Post by: reho33 on December 16, 2009, 12:46:09 AM Well some on fleabay I guess think that the Imonex satisfies the requirement "....cannot be readily converted to to an operational slot...."??? It all depends on what the meaning of "readily convertable"is. Does it mean, within a week, a year, who knows.
