Title: S2000 Lost Sound Simm
Post by: cp on December 16, 2009, 01:31:27 PM
I have   3   S2000  Tabasco 's .  all have the  multi media lite board with simm.

Ran into a problem with one machine...was  working fine but developed continuous  reel tilts ....  pulled board from good working  Tabasco...  insert game board into  "problem"  machine...  machine works fine...reel tilts  no more.

Grabbed another  board  off the shelf ... pulled the  eproms from the  "reel tilt problem"  board  ...went through  complete clear  ....  game works fine... EXCEPT  almost NO sound... with the volume set at  10  you can barely hear  it... have to put ear next to spkr.   Next,  I pull the  simm card   from good working   Tabasco...  put it in the  multi media board.. good sound...

Has anyone ran into losing  the sound  on  simm card ?   :103-

(no... I didn't mess with the dip switches on simm card )

I haven't...but doesn't that sound like the DSV card got zapped perhaps?
Static electricity is at it's worst at this time of the year....
every time I sit down, I need to touch something metal or I get zapped myself!
Carpeting makes balloons stick to your head a piece of cake right now.

Storage of small boards is important so they're protected.
Has the volume gotten louder at all when you go into the sound settings on the machine?

Sound setting at  10  (loudest)  just  barely audible...  but the sound is there  .

You need to set it at "11".... :96-

Just for kicks, if you have another machine, I'd try it in that to see if it makes any difference.
Basically swapping machines...
I don't personally know of any way to repair or troubleshoot a DSV sound card...
I'm hoping someone like Bellbenchtech or perhaps channelmaniac might have an inkling on these boards.
Try contacting them via PM and see if they have any ideas?
