Title: Double Diamond problems Post by: lar on December 20, 2009, 06:30:54 PM Machine: Double Diamond Bonus Wheel
Problem: Message display: "Closure M, Restart, Call Attendant, Video Display Comm Failure". Any ideas of how to fix this problem? Title: Re: Double Diamond problems Post by: KirkLasVegas on December 20, 2009, 06:49:10 PM I have one of them.....
It's on it's way to completion (was a pinball Vision). That error you are getting can be a few things...... The Netplex doesnt see the topbox..... The Flash card in the top box is corrupt.... The top display (its an embedded DOS machine) is not running... A word of *** CAUTION *** Dont ask HOW I know this... DO NOT remove the flashcard or unplug ANYTHING with it powered up! In the top display, next to the edge of the box (behind the RAM sticks) you will see a small 2 pin header. it is called "JP1" on the board. Install a jumper across them. This removes the screen blanking and will allow you to actually see what the top box is doing.Try not to laugh when it boots up and looks like a windows 3.1 machine (IT IS!) Good luck with it,hopefully it's NOT the display. If it is the flashcard no worries (they DO crap out) but it's an easy fixer... Does the fact that it lights up change the next steps I should take for troubleshooting?

I'm hoping all that you have is a bad connection? THEN, turn the power back on and see what happens? Title: Re: Double Diamond problems Post by: CaptainHappy on December 20, 2009, 09:19:59 PM ADMIN NOTE: Moved topic to proper category. CH :95-
Title: Re: Double Diamond problems Post by: jdkmunch on December 20, 2009, 10:56:54 PM I learned from another post that
Closure M is normal after the door was opened. I also confirmed this - sometimes my s2000 displays Close M - I then open and close the door and it displays Closure M. Title: Re: Double Diamond problems Post by: brichter on December 21, 2009, 06:26:26 AM "Closure M" means the main door was open and now it's closed. It goes away after the first game is plated.
If the top display says "Good Luck" or something other than coming up to the Vision game that is installed, most likely the main game isn't expecting a bonus game in the top box. When I installed the Haywire Deluxe kit in my Vision and left the LCD in, the LCD played some attract animations and graphics instead of booting into the Vision game that was installed. It also still functioned for the menus in accounting, options, setup and key chip modes. The first thing I'd check is to make sure the base and game chip are correct for the game kit you're installing. Remember, this machine was working ok until this error message showed up. Thanks to previous posts which I have pursued including:
I verified all connections ok. I did jumper JP1, rebooted and got the following message string. I don't know if this is telling me anything about the problem or not: Starting MS-DOS.. ESSCFG (Version 1.9) found ES1688 at address 220 IRQ channel of AudioDrive has been set to channel 7 DMA channel of AudioDrive has been set to channel 1 MPU401 base address has been set to 300 MPU401 has been enabled with no IRQ channel Any additional ideas how the Video Display Comm Failure could be solved? |
