Title: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper - New Problem (03/05/10)-Bulbs burnt Post by: John0813 on December 24, 2009, 04:25:29 PM As I stated in my last post, I replaced the lights with #658 Miniature bulbs (14 Volts/.08 Amp). Last weekend, I let the topper stay on for about two hours, and one by one each of the light bulbs burnt out? The transformer reads 241-6-28 with output voltage 28 VAC @ 1.1A. Do I need high amp bulbs? or can anyone give me ideas on what to look for?? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :99- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: morspeed on December 24, 2009, 06:10:00 PM That is really funny. I was bidding on this with you but It seemed like you really wanted it so I let it go. HA HA What a coincidence! I did notice that the arrow did not light but figured I could get it to work. I see a transformer in there that is probably what will power those leds. Check to see how much power it is giving and work from there. Is there any control board hooked to the lights behind the arrow?

It seems like a lot of wires are loose and not hooked up. This is probably because this was a low voltage set up that he turned into 120V Plug and play. I can't really help too much without a better look.

Here are a few more photos....I hope they help...I have checked for loose wires....What about the two wires not connected?? any idea where they connect?? Thanks Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: John0813 on December 25, 2009, 12:57:24 PM Here are two more photos Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: stayouttadabunker on December 25, 2009, 02:08:23 PM It appears to me that the brown and red wires went to
some bulbs or LED board that surrounded the edges of the topper? When you power on the topper, stick a multimeter on those two wires and see what's coming out of them. Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: Railroad94 on December 25, 2009, 03:35:48 PM Sb...If you look close at the black box (low voltage controller) The two wires seem to be the
It shows 12-24 vdc or ac but my question is, would that be the Anthony ***** correction****** SB the more I look at it you are correct, didn't pay attention to the transformer in the pic. Looks like it did have chaser lights at one time Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: John0813 on December 25, 2009, 04:09:26 PM Sorry that the low voltage controller photo is fuzzy. The info reads: Model: Chase 004D, Voltage: 12 to 24 VAC or DC, Current 3.2A Max. Tech 22, Carlsbad, California The red light on it is not lite...no power. Idea: I have a Sony ac power adaptor which reads: Output: DC12V 80mA... could that be used to connect to the two wires and power the controller? Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: Railroad94 on December 25, 2009, 04:57:04 PM As SB stated, they look to be output power wires for chaser lights that are no longer there. Looking at the chrome cover you can see the holes for the LEDs
Looks like power for the controller and arrow lights come from the small metal transformer in the pics. The transformer looks to be marked for 24 vac and one leg going to the lights and the other for the controller. Do you have power coming off the transformer? What bulb numbers do you have Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: John0813 on December 25, 2009, 05:11:29 PM The outside of the topper has chaser lights which someone connected directly to a 110 wall plug. The fluorescent light also is powered this way...only the arrow is not working... Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper Post by: John0813 on December 28, 2009, 11:28:41 AM Does anyone know if I can use a Sony ac power adaptor (to connect to the two wires) which reads: Output: DC12V 80mA. to power just the low voltage controller and get the lights to work????????????????????????.. Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper or Power Source for Controller needed? Post by: stayouttadabunker on December 28, 2009, 02:05:46 PM Not if the lights require DC current...

I tested the wires and found power was going to the controller...it turns out that all 10 bulbs were burned out...they have been replaced and everything is working..... :244- :3- Title: Re: Schematic for a Double Diamond Run Topper - Solved Post by: Bettor Slots on December 29, 2009, 06:43:50 PM :3-
Always happy to hear when something comes together. How about posting some pics of the finished product on that fancy machine of yours. :89- |
