Title: IGT dbv200 info and questions
Post by: cfh on October 13, 2008, 12:07:20 AM
So i've been digging around on the IGT dbv200ss
bill validator, and this is what i have found so
far (sept 2008):

-------------
DBV model: DBV-200-B123 (DC 12 volts, SS type)
Filename: d200ss26.040 (4 meg EPROM)
Version: 2.60
File create date: Sept 2005

This version takes the new colored $20 bill and
the new gold $10 bills. It does *not* take the
new purple $5 bills (but does take the newer $5 bills
with the green offset Lincoln).

If you want the DBV200 to take $1 bills, make
sure ALL dip switches on the dbv200 head are OFF.
If switch #1 is on, the head will not take $1 bills.
----------

Does anyone know if there is a newer DBV200 version that accepts
the new colored $5 bills? (That would be IGT version 2.70ss.)
Williams has version 2.70sg for the DBV-200 (create
date of Dec 2007). This wiliiams v2.70sg *does* accept the
new purple $5 bills.

Other info:
IGT version 2.40ss (july 2003) accepts new colored $20, colored $50, but no other new colored bills.
IGT version 2.60ss (sept 2005) accepts new colored $20, colored $50, gold $10, but *not* purple $5.

thanks!

I've got a few jcm 200ss heads myself, in my IGT S+ machines

Been looking for the $5.00 upgrade since they came out, and have not seen it

I don't believe they plan to release it, not sure if it's a memory issue or they feel their to old and not used in the casinos anymore

So disappointing as it is, don't hold you breath, I'm not

IGT has discontinued support of the S+ platform unless the casinos and slot route owners that have the S+ can convince them otherwise.

JCM are quite anxious to get this out, since they're getting daily calls from operators demanding it. They've had it ready since March, but before it can be released it has to go through jurisdictional approvals. IGT generally do this for their machines, since they're all possessive and such about their protocols, but in the case of the older ID-023 used on S+ etc they weren't interested, since they don't benefit from prolonging the life of old machines. So JCM decided to submit themselves, but there was an argument about proprietary protocols and royalties that made them change their mind. I inquired a couple of weeks ago and was told the firmware will be submitted and released by a third party distributor, but the latest info I have is the distributor has added several barrels of pork to the agreement, prolonging the negotiations until all the details can be settled at once. Meantime, at JCM they're thinking of having the phone disconnected.

When you are looking at the connector when it is plugged into the head, I believe the bottom left is pin 14, so the 2 pins used are 11 and 14, if you look at the connector on the bottom there is a 14 marking the last pin

Top row is odd numbers, bottom is even.
