Title: What was your favorite slot purchase in 2009?
Post by: jdkmunch on December 31, 2009, 08:35:25 PM
So - It's the end of the decade!   What was your favorite slot toy you got this year??

Mine was the Reel Touch.    Now if I can just find a Flip Flop kit by midnight my year will be complete!

Happy New Year everyone!

LOL...
I don't know where to start...I liked everything I got this year and I am very thankful for everything.
I've made countless friends that I will cherish forever...that will beat anything I've bought! :89-

The trip to Jim's with the little red subaru was fantastic and getting my
1st S2000 with my all time favorite title of Double Diamond Haywire will rank up right up there!

All of them. 2009 is/was the first time we bought any slot machines. First I got a Bally S6000 Bonus Frenzy & Bally GameMaker from Ron Spadie of SAMRON Slots. Drove from VA to Kentucky to pick them up.  Meet with Ron and his wife Sam and wow what nice people. Me and the wife really enjoyed visiting with them. Next picked up a S+ 5X pay here locally. And had it not been for the snow would have had an S200 Double Diamond Haywire From Jim at Bettorslots, but we rescheduled for this weekend.  I don't think I"m going to try to get it in my trunk like our friend dabunker.  Instead I'm borrowing a van.  Any way that my story and I'm sticking to it.   Happy New Year everybody.   Mike

Great pictures Ron. :3- :3-  What I want to know is: what is it that you had to cover up with "ceiling trees" in that doorway to the right in the second set of pictures, and just generally to the right in the first set of pictures?  :109-  :208- :208- :208-

In addition to the large sign, which is running some great animations, I like that giant $100 Caesar's Palace chip and Santa dealing at the miniature blackjack table. :71- :89-

Despite efforts by Mr. Tacman and Mr. Railroad, I was able to obtain a few signs from their dumpsters. Stat, the ceiling tiles that fell on to the wall are merely covering up some defects in the drywall.

I think queries to Mr. Railroad and Mr. Tacman would yield instructions on how to obtain a PAL sign. Maybe they could advise you on which dumpters to dive in.

My electric bill is surprising low. I have 4 slots, 8 neons, lots of pot lights, 2 refrigerators, a giant chest freezer of 1968 vintage a 1/2 sized bar fridge and a second chest freezer coverted to a kegerator. Never been over $230.00 ......

You know what eats a lot of electricity - things that are supposed to be OFF.  I started using power strips and turning things off when I'm not using them - like cell chargers, tv etc.  and my electric bill is always around $120 a month.    A savings of $60 a month.

And have central AC - 4 refrigerators (two full, two wine)

What I like to do is look at the meter before I leave and see how fast it's spinning.  I'm able to get it to a slow crawl.

Thats called "Phantom" loading. I know I have a ton of it here. I have a lot of stuff that must stay up and running. There are cameras,CPU to record this as well as receivers,CPUs to handle radio traffic. There are Flat panel TV's all over the house and audio equipment remote controlled, so they are alive 24/7.
Most of the lighting in the house is LED, with the rest being CFL.This helped a lot.
It all boils down to "Creature Comfort". The gas bill last month was $95. Thats OK...I will gladly pay that to be comfortable (house at 72).I *could* save more money by sitting in the corner with one light on, watching a 9" B&W TV, wrapped in a blanket....but thats not * Living * now is it?

Kirk  :)

Agreed -

I wish my bill was 95.   My gas bill was $220.  So far with 50 mph wind I'm looking at 400 or 500 for next month.

Yeah, what really sucks about those devices is that either the settings aren't saved when it's powered off (like cable boxes that lose all their programming) or the only reason they draw that power is so the remotes will work. At least my old plasma had a button on the front that enabled me to turn it competely off, my new one doesn't even have the option. :81-

Fios? Is that TV or broadband?

The new TV remembers the settings, I just have no way to completely power it off conveniently. And I no longer have a cable box, thank God for Tivo!!!!

the settings I had in it (rock audio, sports lighting,etc...)
remained the same after I plugged it back in and turned it on!
