Title: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 06, 2010, 01:03:44 PM I got an E-mail directly from the Department of Justice, Virtue, and Vice this morning. It seems that my DOJ application was flagged because they wanted a clarification of what I checked. I checked using, making available for use by others, and personal home use only. So they said that was so wrong, the only box I had to check was Home use only as the other 2 refer to manufacturers and businesses that deal with slots. So just a tip, if you fill out a DOJ registration, unless you are involved in the business end of it, just check the personal use box and leave it at that. I guess I will have the FBI at my door at any moment for this mistake......................... :25- :25- :25- Making available for use by others is not when your buddies come for for a slot tourney.
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 06, 2010, 01:17:26 PM Let me know which prison they send you to so I can bring you some donuts! LOL
(just kidding, I'm not bringing you any donuts!!!) :200- :208- Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 06, 2010, 01:19:17 PM And were off.....................here's the deal, you don't bring me donuts and I won't bring you any DOJ certificates OK?
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 06, 2010, 01:22:43 PM LOL
On a more serious note - You mentioned 3 options to check...what was the other one? Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: slotsteve on January 06, 2010, 01:27:16 PM we haven,t got ours yet we faxed it mid dec
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 06, 2010, 01:55:20 PM Using, making available for use by others, personal use only. If you are not a dealer or distributor use check personal use only( according to DOJ).
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: rickhunter on January 06, 2010, 02:04:11 PM I'm shocked they would even have a personal use only, that would make owning slots legal in all states as the FED provision would over rule any local state law. I thought the whole point of the DOJ was so you could conduct and interstate slot repair/dealership business.
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 06, 2010, 02:48:17 PM Well at the bottom it says..............this is not a license and does not allow you to do anything that is not in accord with Federal, State, or Local Law nor do we render opinions, contact counsel. That means technically that anyone who has any kind of slot machine would need it. So I guess you are breaking the law if you bought a slot machine as a private individual and never registered with them....................????HUH???? :103- :103-
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 06, 2010, 07:05:38 PM OK, they e-mailed me back and just asked what activity I was involved in and I just replied "Personal Use Only". Now the letter will get out of hock and be on it's way. Kind of weird that the Gambling device registration program would be in the same department as the Prisoner Transfer program............that way after you are convicted of your slot crimes you can ask to be transferred to a prison with an attached casino!
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 06, 2010, 07:58:40 PM Actually, not a bad way to spend your time after the crime.... :96-
Includes free meals and hotel accommodations as well! Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 06, 2010, 08:19:16 PM Most casinos are prisons, they just don't tell you...........
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: ruttrunner1 on January 07, 2010, 12:32:41 AM So, you can apply for a DOJ without having a business liscence???
My understanding was you needed a DOJ if you bought or sold more than 3 machines a year. I am a slot addict like most of you and have been concerned since I probably go through about 6 machines a year just out of boredom. I thought I would need a business liscence to get the DOJ. Thanks, Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: Brianzz on January 07, 2010, 12:53:53 AM They sent you an email? They called me personally last year when I screwed up on mine :96- Of course calling back and getting someone is the problem
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 07, 2010, 02:45:48 AM I am not a lawyer nor am I advising anyone get a DOJ. It is a matter of personal choice and you should get proper advice from the approriate sources before making a decision. My choice, my decision. Yes, they insist that you have one even if you bought a machine for personal use. I will not mention any handles or names but one other NLG member here that I met in person has one. Personally I think that it's dopey. In the Melvin Purvis days of the 1950's it was needed but today, no. You can't even get a Thompson machine gun without federal intervention............
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: Goldfinger on January 15, 2010, 03:18:24 PM Ya last year they called me to and chewed my A-- because I wanted to make sure they got my application so I faxes and us mailed it THAT IS A NO NO, and this year they emailed me because I listed 2 addresses 1 for testing and minor repairs (my Home office/game room) and one for my shop warehouse they said they would fix it this year bur next year I needed to submit 2 applications, 1 for each address. so much for the paper work reduction act.
Goldfinger Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 15, 2010, 03:59:57 PM Still haven't gotten it yet..........

Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: PWRSTROKE on January 16, 2010, 02:35:16 AM maniac, I gotta give you a k+ for that one. I have not laughed all day----B.-------------------------- :208- :208-.
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: reho33 on January 16, 2010, 03:34:05 AM I submitted mine on 12/1/09 and still didn't get it. Anyway, you are registered when the Dept. of Justice gets your information, the letter is really secondary. All I have to do is give a seller my DOJ # and they can verify it with them anyway. Only reason I would do that is because some dealers won't ship younger than 25 yr old machines to PA because of the law.
Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: PWRSTROKE on January 16, 2010, 03:44:43 AM Reho, It would be Damn shame if they sent some sope on the rope with your certificate----------- :208-. You need to know this is strickly just a joke as I know what you are stating. Good luck on your doj you evidently have justified the need for it from your stance as you already posted. --B.

Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: KirkLasVegas on January 16, 2010, 05:33:47 PM Thanks Barry. I wonder if you can get a DOJ in the state of Hawaii? so far it looks like having a Slot machine there will get you Tarred/Feathered/Shot/Beheaded/Neutered THEN they get real nasty about it.... WHY would I care? Just thinking outside the box,Our 5-10 year plan is to move there, quit working completely and sit on the veranda totally shit-faced and watch the sunset....while pulling handles of course... Kirk Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: OhioGaming on January 16, 2010, 07:59:43 PM I would take my machines with me.
But in your case you have to consider if you can get away with a small casinos worth of machines. Title: Re: My DOJ held up! Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 16, 2010, 08:12:24 PM He can always load up one of these with his machines from the mainland to Hawaii! :72- >>>
