Title: Swapping JCM bv 145 for a 200
Post by: mkd3b on January 08, 2010, 04:34:39 AM
Was considering replacing my bill validator  Jcm 145 and was wondering what my options are as far as pulling out the old one and swapping for a bv200.  The more I am reading I am inclined to believe that it just not that simple.  Am I wrong or are there other modifications that need to be done..  This Is on An  IGT S+  What kind of options do i have  in order to improve the operation of the existing bv.  Thanks for Input  :99-

Actually with a IGT S+ the swap is simply a matter of changing out the head & power supply.
The 145 Power supply is pin compatiable but it doesn't have enough amps for reliable operation.
You can visually distinguish between the two power supplies as the one with the DBV200 has vents.

The DBV200 with the latest rev of software will do all bills but the new colored 5's in 4 way operation.
The 145 is considered a dead platform and can no longer be upgraded.

The dbv200 can do the colored 5's for other platforms like the WMS and Bally but IGT wants to kill off the S+ so they asked JCM (the maker of the dbv) to withhold the software.

The same is true with the most current WBA11,12,13 as it pertains to the S+

Thanks so much for the info  Is the power supply you spaek of for the whole machine or is it the bv own supply.  Ill have to get in and take a look I guess to see whats in there.  Dont have a new bv at the moment so my optiuons are open for suggestions.  The reason I am considering changing bv is the existing one Jams Quite a bit.  I guess It could also be the  transporter of the acceptor not working properly.  Was going to dissasemble to boil the belts as some one suggested but not completly sure how to get at the damn things.  Its seems pretty consistent with crisp bills but how often do you have a pocket full of crisp money.

Its a power supply for the DBV - its usually mounted under the reel tray or to the side of the main power supply. Looks like a laptop power supplly.
It usually comes with a working head.
