Title: Gamemaker keeps blowing fuse Post by: tollguy316 on January 11, 2010, 01:50:25 PM I have a GAMEMAKER like the one in the pic. It works great; but while in play; the fuse that controls the button lights and bill validator light pops. This only happens when the game is in play and the buttons still work when the lights go out. It's the fuse right below the power switch. Any Ideas .... :99- :99- :99- :99- :99- Thanks, Bill

Make sure the fuse is a slow blow style ? and make sure the value of the fuse is correct for where you are using it. I once replaced a 5a fuse with a 5a fuse with a 5a fuse with a 5a fuse..... later found out that the orginal fuse was wrong and it should have been an 8a :25- I always just took the old fuse to the hardware store. It just never donned on me that the rating was higher than the fuse. Title: Re: Gamemaker keeps blowing fuse Post by: tollguy316 on January 11, 2010, 07:45:14 PM Thanks for your input Jay. It's actually a push button circuit breaker. Sorry If I didn't make myself clear in my previous post. Thanks again, Bill
Title: Re: Gamemaker keeps blowing fuse Post by: jay on January 12, 2010, 02:46:17 PM This sounds like something is shorting.....
Since it only appears to happen during game play see if you can isolate it down to an event. Ie - a particular button on the console..... and as such trace the common wire on the button deck and look for any crimps or stripped areas. Remember these wires go through the door and are subject to some mechanical stress. The most common short in a slot is the candle - these are removed during shipping and the hole in which the wires are run through are typically not smooth so these can strip. Duck Tape over the breaker is always a last resort .... LOL. See if any wires are moving under the deck when you depress a button switch from behind an open door. According to my electrician friend fuses are much more reliable than breakers as far as rate of malfunction.
Title: Re: Gamemaker keeps blowing fuse Post by: Jim on January 12, 2010, 07:53:01 PM the circuit you are having problems with is the 7.5vac lighting .CB-4 is the circuit breaker that is popping. that voltage starts at the transformer and is put into the power supply, then it goes out to switch and circuit breaker panel, then back into the power supply and is distributed to the backplane board for its distribution to the following ckts.
Jackpot Bell Tower Lamps Denomination lamps and Instruction decal Red/ Green bill acceptor lamps All button deck lamps You could unplug all the nonessential and see if it makes a difference, you next option is to visually trace and look for suspect areas. Wish there was an easier fix. even if you unplug doesn't solve for a pinched wire or others. probably only sure thing was the candle lamps as Jay suggested.the only other thing would be if you get more than 100 credits does the bill acceptor change states from green to red? Thank you to everyone for their input. :131- :131- :131-.... I'll get back with an update as soon as I can. Thanks again, Bill
Title: Re: Gamemaker keeps blowing fuse Post by: tollguy316 on January 18, 2010, 02:34:54 AM Hey guys.... well; here's my update. I was contacted by a fellow member (Pokernut) who had the exact same problem. He replaced the fuse( breaker) and that solved the problem. He actually had an extra breaker and sent it to me. I replaced it and played it for about an hour and the machine worked perfectly. Thank you to Pokernut and everyone else who was kind enough to give their input.
