Title: Bally 6000 (Triple Bonus Frenzy) Question about volume control
Post by: Jimise on January 21, 2010, 12:55:38 AM
Hello, I was just curious if I am missing something (some setting) with the volume control on my Bally 6000 machine (Triple bonus frenzy).
When you turn the knob, it does not do anything. I would say the volume is at about half-way but does not change.

Also, after you play the machine for a while, The sounds of the coins dropping in goes away. All you hear is the click of the counter.
Otherwise, all the other sounds seem to work fine.

Thanks everyone!!     :99-

Your machine has Pro Sound II, which has a volume control to the left of reel number 1.  it's quite hard to get to without removing reel 1.  the volume control on the main board is for machines without Pro Sound , or Pro Sound II.  Basically when you look to the left of the left most reel (1) you will see a board that has a black knob pointing towards the handle side of the machine, clockwise is louder and vice versa.  If you are going to remove the reel to adjust the volume, turn off the machine first.

Thanks 69mopar, Found the knob!  (The pic helped) No wonder the knob in the front did not work :96-

Any idea on the problem with coin sounds?   :103-

Hi,
Not quite sure I understand the coin sounds, I'll look at this tomorrow, i'm tired now.  By the way, I had the thread moved to the Bally Reel games section instead of the video section, since your machine is a stepper slot (spinning reel) and not a video slot.

Thanks,
Wayne

Maybe I can explain better what the machine is doing....

Normaly when I would insert a coin into the machine, Or press the bet one button it would make a "Ding" sound so you could hear that the coin, or the bet one button was recognized by the machine. ( I assume this is how most 6000 machines work)
After a while, the "Ding" sound would work intermittently, and now it does not ding at all when you insert the coins, Or press the bet one button.

Other than the sounds not working, The machine accepts the coins/bet one button just fine.

I was hoping somone has experienced this problem and may have an idea what would cause this.
Thanks everyone!!

narrowing down for a specific sound can be tough.  I had one that had all sounds except reel spin sounds.  It turned out to be a scratched(broken) wire trace on the backplane board.  For yours that went gradually , I would suspect a component on the sound board.  I usually swap out bad boards.  I would also inspect the wiring and connectors from the sound board to the backplane.  uplug an replug each connector a couple times

Thanks,
Wayne.

Well after checking the wiring and un-pluging and re-pluging the connectors,
The sound of the the coins inserting has returned!!   :89-
The only plug that did not seem plugged in all the way was the one that said door on the back of the machine.
Could that have caused the problem?

Thanks for the help again!!  :131-     Jim....

The likely cause was poor contact at one of the connectors.  It scraped a little off when you unplugged and replugged the connectors.  I'm glad you got it working, Thanks for letting us know,
