Title: cloning megatouch hard drive Post by: mikeyd on January 21, 2010, 11:58:35 PM Hi. I some skills on cloning hard drives. Im trying to clone mine maxx crown so if it fails i will have a back up. Is there any software to buy or download?
Thanks Any help would be great,. I was able to clone it but its no operation system missing. Check with the OS documentation for the OS that is running on it.
If it's DOS, then put the drive in an old PC, boot with a DOS disk, and do a "fdisk /mbr" to put the boot record on it. Another check is to run FDISK and see if the partition is marked as "active" Title: Re: cloning megatouch hard drive Post by: Randy0777 on January 23, 2010, 01:29:41 AM The drives use Linux as the operating system. If you have one of these drives on your pc and you boot to windows ,it will tag the hard drive and it will not work back in the machine. I use MFS tools to do the drives. I'm sure you can find something easier, but I got use to it putting larger drives in our Tivos

I was able to buy the WD My DVR External Sata drive to add more space - it was so nice just plugging it in and not having to find my boot disks to "Bless" any drives. I think I had upgraded 5 Tivos before that for myself and friends/family. The TivoHD is about the only thing I wouldn't give up before my slot machines...
