Title: PLEASE ADVISE ASAP
Post by: subman on January 25, 2010, 07:52:59 AM
 hello
hope you dont mind got a few questions...
My hubby and i advertised our IGT rwb splus (s+ says my original paperwork???)
Also says paperwork its a "splus upright RWB"   it takes quarters ... a 777 machine ( can u tell I dont know much about this stuff) Its a model 9640020r if that helps.
The poor thing has been sitting in our garage with use every 30-90 days.. when ever kids have a new friend come over or some thing.

Q#1 - what is fair asking price?

We were wiping off the dust, getting her ready to show to buyer, and my husband removes (what we think in the coin deposit where it says slide here to replace coin..) a quarter. Except we cant figure out where or how to put the coin back in? Q#2 Is their supposed to be a coin placed in here ?? and Q#3 can this be why coins keep dropping thru? AND Q#4 could this be why their is an error 3300 empty hopper... cuz It has NEVER had any problems or error codes in the 6 + years we've owned it, Maybe she just doesnt wanna leave home? ANYONE that can help with this sudden snowball of problems I would appreciate as we have a buyer coming at  4p.m. TODAY Jan 25... aaaaauuuuugggghhhhh..
 Just a little stressed!
THANK YOU!!!!

Welcome to  :nlg-.

Without seeing a picture of it, from everything you've described it's an IGT S+ upright model (that is, it's not a slant-top sit-down type model) with a "Red White and Blue" kit in it.

As far as an asking price, it really depends on the condition of it, and more importantly your location.  If you're in a state where it's easy and cheap to get slot machines, the price will be lower.  If you're in a state where they're hard to find, you can get a higher price.

To replace the coin that your husband took out of the coin comparator, slide the entire mechanism where the "Slide to Replace Coin" label is to the right.  Insert the coin in the open area that is created by sliding the thing, and then let the mechanism spring back against the coin, ensuring that the coin is seated properly in the mechanism.  Here's a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjUqOqf6Zg8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjUqOqf6Zg8)

Yes, coins will not work in your machine if there is no coin in the comparator, and yes, there should be a coin in there.  Typically, though, coins will jam if there isn't a coin in the comparator -- not necessarily just drop through.

If you have an error 3300 (empty hopper), the machine will not attempt to accept any coins, and will reject them to the tray until the empty hopper condition is fixed.  If your machine thinks the hopper is empty, it is likely trying to pay out after someone hit the Cash/Credit button.  Throw a handful of coins (the correct coins -- if it's a quarter machine, throw a handful of quarters ONLY) into the hopper and close and completely latch the front door.  That should cause the machine to attempt to resume its payout.  The machine will not be ready to play until it has finished its payout -- the credit meter on the front glass should indicate how many coins (credits) remain to be paid out.

For reference, here is a picture with two "upright" S+ machines:

...and here is a picture with a "slant top" (sit down) S+ machine:

...and finally, just a guess, but is this the game theme that's in there?

Wow your responce has my head turning... You talk speedy..  your video was very helpful,  cuz God knows how many of you husbands listen to your wives!!! if fact while he knows it all out in the garage... lovely man... took the whole stinkin hopper out to refill,  and wow now it wont turn. why did u remove it? i asked "cuz i can" he answerered.. So i'm going back in to pre ask his questions, LOL where it is warm..

#1 we live in Reno Nv. So would $400. be fair. ? And againI wouldn't say it cherry condition I'd say fair condition, And yes the only difference in the RWB machine u showed is mine is a 2 quarter/credit,

Is $120 worth of quarters enough for it to sence it? Yes i realize we will prob have to feed through a few times depending on our credit.

K, he just came in to inform me their was a nickle stuck in hopper, he wants me to go watch him turn it on... i might have ya all beat as for as excitement goes,
(I hope nobody is offended by my sarcasim) Ok hopper sounded like it turned, but 3300 came up again. Now its ?? cashing out like one win at a time, example it paid 1 quart then stopped and says winner paid 5, then 100. ..What r we (HIM) doing wrong?

Again I am seriously so immpressed with your websight! Even more with your timely response! (If i ever find a job, i WILL send you a donation,) In fact  i've had such a positive experience I am truly sorry we have to sell it.!

AND GOT A CHARGE THAT NOT ONLY SHOCKED HIM BUT, THREW A WIRE OUT AND BLEW A FUSE... i had to run inside  TO LAUGH .cuz hes just a weeee bit frustrated (Of course I made sure he was ok, first.) so now he is gonna go buy a new fuse. Poor guy. lol. Wow maybe this machine doesnt wanna leave us...?

ok richard wants to know if there is a reset button and what is wrong when the Green light does not come on on the coin dispenser.

There is a metal bolt at the top of the topper with a wire on it. This is used to sense a Hopper Full condtion. So an electrical current makes its way through the coins to the electronics but NOTHING that would carry a voltage like you descrbed.

Do you mean the Green light on the coin comparitor ???

Unless the hopper is jammed there is a self-test (white button) by the power switch.
Pressing this button once and closing the door will clear the 3300.

Unless you have like 6 quarters in the bowl no manual stirring is normally necessary.

Perhaps one of the wires to the hopper motor was loose and caused a shock when he touched it?

To be safe, turn off and unplug the machine.  Then remove the hopper (pull it straight out towards you -- if its full of quarters, be careful as it'll be heavy).  You said that there he "threw a wire out" -- I don't quite know what you mean by that.  If there are any loose wires dangling from the hopper, that's wrong.  It would be really helpful if you could take a picture of it and post it here so we can tell you where the loose wire(s) belong.

Also, never remove or insert the hopper when the power is on.  Always turn the machine off before removing or inserting the hopper.

I agree with Jay -- there is nothing that should give you a big shock, especially if the machine has a proper three-prong plug and is plugged into a three-pronged outlet.

I'm kind of going in reverse with your questions now, but yes, $400 seems like a pretty fair price in Nevada.  It's a little on the high side, but not by much.  They can be found a lot cheaper than that by distributors, but they can also be found more expensive than that by private sellers -- I think you're asking a fair price, although you may want to be willing to negotiate down a little bit if someone offers you slightly less.

As far as it only cashing out one or two coins and then returning a hopper empty message, it's possible that your hopper knife got bent or damaged by the nickel that was jammed in there.  Dump the coins out and look for a black plastic knife that should rest flat against the round shelf wheel that brings coins from the bottom of the hopper to the top.  The knife looks like this:

If the knife is damaged or broken, coins won't come out of the hopper.  If it's just bent, it's possible to bend it back.  Remove the knife, gently but firmly bend it back so that it'll be flat when it's reinstalled, and then re-install it.

The alternating 5 / 100 is likely telling you that five coins have been dispensed by the hopper so far, and that 100 credits (coins) remain to be dispensed.  Again, the game will not do ANYTHING else until it has dispensed all of the coins remaining on the credit meter.

The green light on the coin comparator should not be on when the door is open.  Don't worry about that at this time.  If the machine previously accepted coins, it likely will again in the future, but again it won't try to until the current cashout has finished.

There is not a "reset" button per se.  There is a self test switch that Jay described, but that will not cure your ills with the machine.  Again, the machine will not operate until it has finished paying out the coins it is trying to pay out.

If you have loose wires on the hopper, I'd strongly suggest posting a picture or two here before you power the machine back on, as we don't want you or your husband to get another jolt of electricity.  Also, make sure that he replaces the fuse with the exact same rating of fuse that blew -- you'd much rather blow another fuse than further damage the machine or a person.

OK richard showed me the wires that popped out, turns out they go to lights on the front, and they did fly out of the plastic anchor (white plug thingie) and gave him a "baby jolt" .
So he is pretty confident that he can fix that.. And he's glad that green light that yes is inside on the comparator is not a biggie. Richard replaced the fuse that blew and then went to bank for more quarters.. So assuming that with $200. in quarters in the hopper,it should be full enough to cycle through. We hit that white refridgerater looking button and shut the door. waited for its spin and 3300 came back up...now why cant i be that consistant when actually playing at a casino?? Ok richard UnPLUGGED the machine and removed the hopper. wow that knife is kinda hidden, huh. It is  slightly bent and i dont think he can bend it back cuz now he wants to know where he can get a new one. And i can't really take a picture of anything out in garage tonight since the lighting is so bad. so I will take a pic in the morning with the sun, IF we r still thinking you need a pic.
Buy the way i told our buyer that a couple quarters were stuck and while he was here I showwed him this website... he was impressed too.

So I guess we r at standstill till we figure out where to get a replacement knife and see if that solves her. (?)
Thanks again.

I have been through something similar with a hopper knife.  You can bend it enough, just do t Gently.
A good diagram of what your looking at as well as a lot of other info can be found here.

This will help you understand what the people helping you on here are talking about.
Good Luck  :88-

You can get them for cheaply as 2.99 on some sites. Or you can heat it gently and bend it back and make sure it is flush with the shelf wheel. I had the same problem with the 3300 and the coins getting stuck under the knife.

The kinfe can be found cheaply on eBay, or just by contacting one of the vendors who help to support this site (I've bought multiple items from Jim at Blueridge and April at Lemans and been very happy with their service).  If it's bent now and not working, you have nothing to lose by trying to bend it back -- worst case you'll break it and need a new one, which is pretty close to where you are now.  You'll want to remove the knife to try and bend it, rather than trying to do it while it's attached to the hopper.

You do not need to have $200+ in quarters in there.  If you put 20 quarters (not $20 -- just 20 coins) it shouldn't have trouble picking them up and working properly.  I suggest that once you put the repaired or replaced knife in there, only toss in a handful of coins to test it out so you're not constantly having to move $200 worth of quarters.

According to the IGT bible (http://newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%202CM/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Red,%20White%20&%20Blue%20(2%20Coin%20Multiplier.htm), 400/1000 is the standard top award for the 2CM.   :71-

Here's a photo of the hopper.

The coins are picked up from the bottom of the hopper by the "Pinwheel".
The pins should be spaced to only allow one coin in between.
As the coins near the top, they rest on the "Shelf" wheel.
The shelf should be the correct thickness to only allow one coin to sit on it, all others should fall off.
The shelf should also be the correct diameter to bring the top of the coin to the edge of the pinwheel.
The coins then pass onto the "Knife", and ride up through the coin sensor, and then roll out of the machine.

Hope this helps.

Ed

There's actually 2 versions of RWB (several, in fact) the standard 2CM 5,000 3CM 10,000 for RWB 7's and 2CM 1,000 3CM 5,000 (I think). Those were made for dollar players so they could hit a non-taxable top jackpot often
