Title: S+ Bell Voltage off motherboard?
Post by: Magicslots on February 03, 2010, 08:42:58 PM
I know the bell voltage is 24vac for the bell's operation, does anybody know off hand
what the voltage is where it connects to the motherboard, would it be enough to light a few leds?  :103-

Yes, but it would be much safer if you used that as a trigger to set off a 24Vdc relay
so it wouldn't hurt the draw on your PS.
Separating the power by using a relay will guarantee that your LEDS are
recieving the correct power needed to run them...
such as pre-programmed X-mas lighting or confetti cannons! lol
I actually drilled holes all the way around the reel glass and install professionally looking LED sockets.
The machine is set to ring the bell on all pays...
but instead of a noisy bell - it triggers the relay which flashes/chases the LEDs around
the reel glass every time I win something...even a cherry on a Payline! lol
My mod makes the machine a little more,... well......flashy! :96-

That sounds really "fantabulous" bunker... :211-

Or a video would be better! :46-

And depending on where your machines are located, less noisy for the others in the household. Mine are in the basement so noise is not a problem.

I'd love to show you but I'm waiting for dimmer colored
LEDs to come in on the slow boat from china.
I found that the white Leds were too bright!
Whenever I won something - I felt like I was Tiger Woods peeking outta the sex clinic.
The 20,000cmd white LED flashes being chased around the reel glass are enough to blind me!!!!
Now I know why the hollywood stars were dark shades! :97-

:209- Well they say good things come to those that wait...
Do you have any pics of the relay setup?

No, I'm at home...the machine's at work....
It's so simple really.
The 24 volt relay has 6 posts.
The back 2 are for the 24v from the motherboard bell socket.
These will energize the coil.
The front 2 posts are for "NO" = "normally Open"
These are the two posts which are spliced into the Ground (-) wire for the lights/bazooka cannon, etc.
the 2 inside posts are for a "NC" circuit = "Normally Closed".
I rarely use these posts as they are for circuits that need constant power and
when an event happens that energizes the relay's coil -
the constantly powered object gets shut off.
I usually snip these 2 posts off so nothing gets shorted out.
So how hard is it to make the wiring/harness for all this?
Piece of cake if you're very resourceful and diligent at finding all the
exact Molexes and parts you need to complete this!
It's a project really worth working on!
